I mean obviously the above are intended for efficient mastication of vegetable matter... but why be able to top 90km/ph if you are only intended to stalk leaves?

If I remember my bio class right, cheetahs do not have large powerful claws. Their claws, unlike most cats, are not retractable and wear down during their life time. (Of course they are still deadly). I seem to remember reading that cheetahs do not really “grip” the groundmuch of their balance comes from their tail.
And it has long, sharp fangs, a 90% protein requirement and a very short carnovore's intestinal tract why again? Did they evolve those traits the day after Eve gave Adam a dodgy apple?

So because man disobeyed God, cheetahs started eating antelope and zebras? If I was a springbok or an impala I'd be a tad miffed at being turned into lunch for something that some other species did.
