You seem to think of God as something partial like ourselves. But God is being itself, truth itself, goodness itself, beauty itself. Man's response to such a being could only be one of worship. If we do not worship such a being, we betray our own nature, since, to be fully human, we have to love beauty, goodness, and truth. God does not need our worship; he "demands" it because He knows we can only be happy if we embrace truth, beauty, and goodness.

I do love beauty, goodness and truth.
What does that have to do with an ancient book of a vengeful sprite who delights in burning animals, punishes his creation for his own mistakes and gives the go-ahead for mass murder?
As an atheist, I love beauty, goodness, and truth.
After reading the Bible, I can truthfully say that the god depicted therein is none of those things.
Very nice theoretically, but should I remind you, Catholic as me, what happened when that truth, goodness and beauty manifested in a human form?. You know, we´re like that. And be sure that, if he tries it again, it will be the fundies who ask the others to worship him the first to do the same exploit.
I do love beauty, goodness, and truth. Your god is none of that, therefore I refuse to worship him/her/it.
Well, I suppose if you're a psychopath, the Judeo-Christian God is truth, beauty and goodness. To non-psychos, however, he's just sickening.
God demands attention. what a whore. Worse then most girls I knew in Highschool, they could at least flaunt it and make it somewhat of a temptation for us guys to go goo goo gaga over.
Sorry, blasphemy.
No matter what you claim for your Gawd, his book reveals him to be vicious, hateful, and narcissistic.
"God is love" or God is whatever. I've always, even as an eight year old Catholic, wondered why there would need to be two words for one thing. Why not just use "Truth" for truth. Is god its press agent? "Joey here - as far as you need to know - IS Governor Schwarzenegger."
Definitely an ad hoc argument, that's for sure. I mean, he's essentially resorting to pantheism and guilt to make his point. And of course pantheism is heresy, and guilt is no argument at all.
I don't see this as being very fundy. It's a legitimate (and frankly well thought out) theological argument - far better, in fact, then the usual fundy "God needs worship so he doesn't get mad at me" mentality.
Matilde, well said. If Jesus does return, it will be the fundies who will be the first to cry "crucify him!" because he will defy their expectations - just as he defied the materialistic expectations of the first-century fundies.
I'd really like to make a banner for an Easter service that reads:
"We Killed Him - And We'll Do It Again If We're Not Careful!"
@the Dark Lord of the Sith: Yeah, if you ignore the entirety of the bible, how Jehovah is a sadistic nutbar, and how he utterly fails to do anything about the distinct lack of Truth Goodness and Beauty in the world at any point.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
