That statement implies that your mythical boogeyman is more powerful than your "god", your "god" has to be let in but satan can posses all willy-nilly with no one being none the wiser.
Beware of systems of spirituality which tell you to empty yourself.
Empty yourself of what, exactly?
You will end up filled with something you probably do not want.
