I think it is just a very small percentage of us beleivers that senses this feeling of His coming soon. I know I can't even convince my family (all saved BTW, Praise God) that things are as close as I believe them to be.

My wife is worried about firewood for this winter and heating propane and I'm like "Yeah, whatever".

Oh, how I wish that you were right! It may not be that large of a percentage of all Christians, but it is pretty much the entirety of the evangelical, and fundamentalist crowd. Basically, the vocal Christians...like yourself.

Sounds like your family have beliefs and perspectives of their own. Of course, you are obviously right, though...

...and when the snow burying the hovel thawed for the spring, they found the cold, swollen corpse of a man known only as Steve53. His body was placed in a rocking chair, with the head facing out the window, covered in a blanket, with "Jesus will be here any day now" scrawled over every square inch of the walls around him. His wife was fortunate enough to have left for her parents' house after he started babbling about the end being nigh, and within a day of his severing his left arm in order to serve it for Christmas dinner. Marks over his body support the assertion that he spent the duration of the time after that in habitual prayer, and self-flagellation.

They are now investigating an online cult that he was involved with called "Rupture Reedie"; a group that supposedly supported his suicidal activity and derangements. We will announce details as they develop.

Deathcult in action.
He is betting the wellbeing, and possibly health and even life (depending on the harshness of the winter in his location) of himself and his family on his irrational belief that a) Jesus is going to return before winter, and b) that Jesus is going to 'rapture' him and his family straight to heaven.
He is doing this because he believes that life on earth is meaningless, because it is 'only temporary', and hopes for an eternal existence in heaven. The result is that he wastes his life on earth instead of celebrating it as something precious. The root cause of theis state of affairs is his religion, and I know of no way to save him from it. He will have to do it himself, but I don't think he has the will to do it. Truly, a sad thing to see.

Liar. If they were all as 'Saved' as you claim, they'd be convinced too. But as they aren't as you say, then...!

Sorry, but I can't hear you over my smugness & hyper-superiority, in my confidence in the fact that not only are my household bills paid automatically by Direct Debit by my bank, I'm in credit with my gas/electric/water suppliers to the tune of quite a substantial amount, to the extent that this amount in itself - with it's accruing interest in said suppliers' accounts - that I have the choice of asking the bank to stop said Direct Debit payments temporarily, so as to increase the balance of my bank account from my salary, or can use said accounts in those suppliers as a nest egg I can claim at any time.

No 'Faith' required. That's the confidence of being an Atheist.

Fundamentalists have higher divorce rates then Atheists or moderate Christians. In fact, moderate Christians divorce rates go up in fundamentalists states suggesting a cross pollination of crazy dogma.

Shit like this post is why. Convinced the second coming being "coming soon" they just plain give up on life and if the spouse is even slightly more connected to reality they must eventually rid themselves of the useless baggage.

These Rapture sites are positively littered with people basically saying "fuck everything, I'm gonna sit here and wait for Jesus".

The comments about depression are right on point here also. After saying fuck it all reality will eventually win out and while Jesus shows no signs of coming soon winter certainly will and with every degree drop you will slowly, sadly realize how wrong you are.
