Some of the comments here:
"The laws don't apply to "the internet", but to the country you're in."
And Donald Trump's policies would have jurisdiction over the US, I don't see what the problem is or with consulting founders of IT companies to figure out ways to combat IS propaganda and communications online.
Again if it can be done without being intrusive to regular Internet users, that's fine. Taking down IS websites for example, even by cyber attacks if necessary, (these are enemy combatants, they're not merely people who break the law) would not be wrong in my eyes. Even Anonymous has done that and they are for free Internet. Freedom however doesn't mean freedom to promote sedition and terrorism. As with all freedoms, you have a responsibility to respect other people's freedom, if you can't or won't you forfeit your own freedom.
"While we don't know what kind of policy Trump would support, we can make a pretty good guess based on the other kinds of policies he's advocated. If a person's policies include public racism,"
Donald Trump has spoken out against illegal immigration, not a race.
"institutional religious discrimination of the level that the freaking Nazi Party introduced,"
The Nazi Party killed its Jewish population in Germany and killed Jews outside its territory too. Donald Trump has merely proposed a ban on Muslim immigration, which would only apply to non-citizens. There is no such thing as a right to emigrate to the USA, it's a privilege, not a right. If the US wanted to, they could even say no more immigration period, if you weren't born there you don't get in. A sovereign nation can choose whatever immigration policy it pleases.
These things are not comparable, even if you disagree with Trump's immigration policy. It's just Godwin's law in action by idiots.
Keep in mind there's already a law banning communist immigration, what are you now going to argue that the US has been on par with Nazi Germany since the Cold War?
and the deliberate killing of innocent people because they happen to be related to terrorists, then they're going to have a very different approach to freedom of speech than Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.
Yeah that is pretty horrible, but then again the president can't simply do everything he wants. That's not how a republic works. There would be plenty of ways to prevent that. Overall however Clinton and Sanders would be worse. If you want to deal with IS properly, you need to elect a Republican and it needs to be either Donald Trump, Ben Carson or Ted Cruz. The Democrats are utterly clueless and their economic policies are even worse and will destroy the economy and drive even more jobs from the country when businesses get sick of paying taxes after taxes and following increasingly intrusive regulations.
