The reason gay marriage will never be legal is because Christians will be prosecuted for saying it's wrong to be gay. Secondly, your kids WILL be taught about gay sex in primary school if gay marriage is the law of the land. When this happens, most parents would then take their kids out of public schools and put them in Christians schools so their kids would avoid reading books like My Two Dad's.
This would be unfair to the children of atheists because they'd have to remain in gay-friendly public schools, and most likely grow up to be at least bisexual - we're all products of our environment I'm afraid.

Somehow a controversial book or two seems to pale in comparison with the multitude of topics, lessons and subjects covered in any child's primary academic career. In other words, there is still lots of good, solid education that children can benefit from in public school.
children of atheists...most likely grow up to be at least bisexual
Citations please.
Why unfair to atheists? I'm an atheist and would find it perfectly acceptable if my child goes to a gay-friendly public school. I at least plan to teach him that it's OK if people are different.
And serious citation needed on the claim that Christians will be thrown in jail for saying that homosexuality is wrong. I think this is the new "illegal to pray in school" claim.
All I had to say to a kid who asked me why so-and-so had two mommies instead of a mommy and daddy was, "Because her two mommies love each other, just like your mommy and daddy do." End of discussion. Young children don't require the ins-and-outs of ANY relationship in an explanation, and you'd be pretty fucked up to give it to them.
Okay, my school never taught anything about gay people. Nothing at all, not even a side mention in sex education lessons.
Yet... im bisexual. Huh. How about that!
most parents would then take their kids out of public schools and put them in Christians schools so their kids would avoid reading books like My Two Dad's
And avoid learning about proper apostrophe use, too! Sounds like you got pulled out just in time - pity your dad didn't...

Um... what? Logically, if you could be prosecuted for speaking out against homosexuality, gay marriage would be legal.
Secondly, your kids WILL be taught about gay sex in primary school if gay marriage is the law of the land.
I don't see why that's a bad thing. I mean, it's based on the assumption that everyone is opposed to homosexuality. I don't see why sex ed shouldn't cover both heterosexual and homosexual sex.
When this happens, most parents would then take their kids out of public schools and put them in Christians schools so their kids would avoid reading books like My Two Dad's.
Only if "most parents" are fundies.

Sexuality fail. I grew up in a Christian household and I was taught that homosexuality was wrong. In person, I've only known about three or four gay people in my life. And yet I still turned out a fag. Interesting.
Are all these Christian schools free? I really don't think that many parents can afford private schools for their kids.
And what's unfair about being bisexual? At the least you double your chances for a date.
Nobody's going to be prosecuted for speaking against gays. They'll be prosecuted for beating them up.
Kids won't be taught about gay sex in elementary schools. Heterosexual marriage is the current law of the land, and we don't teach het sex in elementary schools.
"So their kids would avoid reading books" <=== I get the feeling this is what you meant.
Uh, maybe you haven't noticed, but most atheists don't care about who you're attracted to. The people who are dumb enough to care about that are usually people who pick through the Bible to justify all their hatred.
And I know I bisexual girl who has an insanely Catholic mother. So your little Christian kids could grow up to be gay or bi, and the only difference sending them to a Christian school where it's not okay to be gay will make is now your kid will be beaten up by bullies.
Show me an atheist who cares whether their kid is straight or not, and I'll show you 100 who don't.
Also, take what PWEOTWEB said, and repeat it to yourself twice daily, then show it to all of the conservative Christians you know. It's quite correct. If you doubt it, look up the relevant legislation. Now shove your poorly veiled bigotry up your ass.
" - we're all products of our environment I'm afraid."
You certainly are. Although, heaven knows what that environment is in your case. Perhaps it's something like an abhorrent and squalid den of deception and virulent lies informed by a stifling atmosphere of choking bigotry and by the poisonous intake of a malignant religious view. With an abominable emphasis on how to be a gullible simpleton by subjugating your humanity to the manipulative Mammon worshiping filth that controls your every thought.
'The reason gay marriage will never be legal is because Christians will be prosecuted for saying it's wrong to be gay.'
Where's the citation?
'Secondly, your kids WILL be taught about gay sex in primary school if gay marriage is the law of the land. When this happens, most parents would then take their kids out of public schools and put them in Christians schools so their kids would avoid reading books like My Two Dad's.'
FALSE.
Fundy environments are filled with STUPIDITY, as Buff says.
TRUTHNO78 - more like LIESNO78.
I's almost as if the only thing that stops them from becoming gay is an intense hatred of the very same.
Newsflash, asshole. Homosexuality does not work this way!!!
They won't be taught about methods used by homosexuals (and some heterosexuals) to have sex. They will learn that some men are attracted to men, and that some women are attracted to women. Period. End of story.
But that would be unfair to the children of fundamentalists, because they want their kids to be totally unaware of the fact that gay people exist. That way, when said children grow up and enter the real world, they will be just as shocked and offended as Mom and Dad upon discovering the existence of gay people.
"and most likely grow up to be at least bisexual - we're all products of our environment I'm afraid"
Sexuality is determined in the womb. Unless you're claiming that we're sneaking various hormones into pregnant women, there's no influencing going on here.
"they'd have to remain in gay-friendly public schools, and most likely grow up to be at least bisexual"
You must be speaking for yourself here. I grew up around gays. There is only one penis that gets me excited, and I'm quite attached to it, thank you.
Lies lies lies lies lies lies lies.
Christians will be prosecuted for saying it's wrong to be gay.
Lies. Though they honestly should be reviled for saying that.
Secondly, your kids WILL be taught about gay sex in primary school if gay marriage is the law of the land.
Lies.
we're all products of our environment I'm afraid.
LIES. Environment has a partial influence, but what about a little thing called genetics?
You got it right at the end of this stupid post when you said "I'm afraid". It sickens me that your stupid bible has made you fear things that do not exist.
I would agree that if public schools taught primary school kids how gay men have sex it would be wrong, the same way if they taught about hetero sex at that age.
Of course, this is not going to happen.
I don't understand why homosexuals just can't have the same rights as everyine else and then be left alone. Why do you get to determine how people get to live their lives?
"we're all products of our environment I'm afraid."
Oh, buddy, you got a lot of 'splaining to do. I can't even begin to try to counter this statement based on how ignorant it is. Explain to people with genetic defects from BIRTH like muscular dystrophy, or diabetes, or a family history of cancer is a product of environment. However, I can probably attest that your stupidity is a result of your sheltered environment, at least I hope.
Well, at least you have some sympathy for atheists... (even though the neither want nor need that sympathy).
My elementary school was extremely gay-friendly. In fact, many homosexual couples put their kids in that school so that they wouldn't be bullied. And I'm not gay or "at least bisexual."
The reason gay marriage will never be legal is because Christians will be prosecuted for saying it's wrong to be gay.

Yeah, but not without your consent.

I'm bisexual, I was raised by a christian mother and I've never read about Sammy's Two Mommies.
What are you on about?
Sorry, no. By the time I was five, I was crushing on at least two cute girls in every class. Just because you bend any which way the wind blows doesn't mean I'm straying from the double-X. Dames are smart, funny, engaging, challenging, sweet-smelling, and soft in all the right places.
Anyway, your ignorance is depressing, so here's Sharon Underwood's awesome letter again .
Confused?
