So you don't mind it should someone to decided kill Americans in job lots? Maybe with homemade pony bomb? Or some home brewed disease? Or with an airplane?
Have you ever heard the phrase moral authority? It's why the US military tries to stay away from civilian deaths, mass killings (yes, I know, we often fail). Without moral authority, you risk ending up fighting enemy cilivians as well as their military.
Besides which, genocide just means you get to dance the Spandau ballet.

Well, to be fair, genocide does have the potential to settle a lot of national, religious, and ethnic differences. Kind of makes you pretty much un-redeemably evil, but it that's the way you want to go, it could work...

The primary purpose of religion, according to your fellow theists, is to make you a better person.
