Christianity is not a religion, as is Atheism (note the capital "A"). "Religion" is man constructing a belief system in search for a creator of the universe. Atheists claim "materialism" or "naturalism" is the creating force of the universe...
Christianity is Creator God revealing Himself to individuals in real time. That is a reality-based experience, not a man-made "story".

Pick up a dictionary, knowing definitions of words is good.
Religion: Belief in a deity. Atheists don't believe in a deity, therefore atheism not a religion, Christianity is.
Materialism: a preoccupation with or stress upon material rather than intellectual or spiritual things, not a religion
naturalism: a theory denying that an event or object has a supernatural significance; specifically : the doctrine that scientific laws are adequate to account for all phenomena, again, not a religion
Or was that too hard to follow
So, if religion=a search for a creator of the universe.
a)atheism=no creator of the universe(no intelligent alien doing that)
b)Christianism=there is an intelligent creator borrowed from the Judaic conception of that entity.
So, atheism is a religion but Christianity not?. WTF?
You are in desperate need of a dictionary:
Religion: 1. beliefs and worship: people's beliefs and opinions concerning the existence, nature, and worship of a deity or deities, and divine involvement in the universe and human life; 2. system: an institutionalized or personal system of beliefs and practices relating to the divine.
Atheism: unbelief in God or deities: disbelief in the existence of God or deities
Christianity: 1. religion that follows Jesus Christ's teachings: the religion based on the life, teachings, and example of Jesus Christ
You can call a dog a rock, you can call a rabbit a tree, but regardless of how you redefine them, the dog will remain a dog and the rabbit will remain a rabbit and you will remain delusional.
Oh, and if you really believe that Christianity is "Creator God revealing himself to individuals in real time," then you aren't a Christian.
"Christianity isn't just some religion! It doesn't need any book of man made stories to- no! What are you doing to my KJV bible? Blasphemy! Nooooooooo!"
Sorry Homunculus, when you've ditched the ancient texts, tax-exempt buildings of worship, and grandly-clad child molestors, then you can claim you're not a religion.
"Christianity is not a religion, as is Atheism (note the capital "A")."
I see the capital A you dumb shit. It doesn't make you right just because you use it, then point it out like you're making some kind of revolutionary point.
"...Christianity is Creator God revealing Himself to individuals in real time. ...
Real time? Is that where one day = 1000 years (or whatever it is that fundies claim whenever they try to make the creation stories in Genesis jive with observable reality)?
Or is it more like when Jesus promised to return "before this generation passes"?
Atheism is not a religion dipshit. It's a term some asshole invented for all those people who unfortunately weren't gullible enough to believe in a magical sky wizard. It's not like us atheist have a church or a dogma or anything.
Just shut the fuck up, your black and white thinking prevents you from leading a full and intellectually stimulating life.
Besides what is this god revealing himself in real-time ? Is it usually time delayed or round-based or something ?
Okay, for the several months I've been coming here that's the first time I've ever seen a capital A on atheism. In fact, that's the first time I've ever seen a capital A on atheism ever. So you lose there.
God revealed himself to you? So he's a flasher now?
Atheists claim "materialism" or "naturalism" is the creating force of the universe...
Atheists believe there is no creating force of the universe. Giving nothing an "ism" name doesn't make it something.
Homunkeylust is in desperate need of a dicitonary, a science book, The Bible(yeah, he misses on Christian concepts), and a book on comparative religions. Oh yes, and a brain.
Invisible man? Check.
Invisible man smites you if you don't do what he says? Check.
Invisible man says oher peoples invisible man isn't real? Check.
Big book of fairy tales to read? Check.
Christianity is a religion.
I was just thinking that exact thing. If it's not a religion, then no more tax exemption (say buh-bye to that national debt from just the real-estate taxes pdq.) no more freedom of religion perks...
we could even discriminate against them for it if we really wanted to too.
Religion:
(1) the service and worship of a god or the supernatural (2)commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
In other words, it is a man made story.
*sighs* I love these people who have names like "FullMoon24" and "CelticSeasAlive" and such. Last I heard the word "Homunculus" it was a creature invoked by an Elemental Mage to carry plague and disease to unsuspecting innocents. I'm too lazy to look up the real meaning, but I'm amused nevertheless. Ah, Irony, I love thee, I love thee, I love thee completely.
Calling atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair colour.
"Creator God revealing Himself to individuals"
"Show me on the doll where god touched you."[/psychiatrist]
"Christianity is Creator God revealing Himself to individuals in real time"
And doing so by listening to what others have to say about a set of books written by men about God...
Yeah, sorry, but you fail at pretending that Christianity is Special Knowledge.
I was brought up with the idea that "Christianity is not a (man-made) religion" but a divine revelation, the yardstick against which all other truth claims must be assessed. The trouble with this view is that the God supposedly revealed in Scripture is a brutal megalomaniac in whom no decent human being should be asked to believe. The fundies are welcome to the old monster. Give me a civilized belief system that doesn't pretend to be anything but a construct any day.
Here's your logic problem
Religions have God(s), they're all created in peoples minds. The concepts of materialism or naturalism are created by peoples minds. Concept. They are products of society and as manmade concepts they have no agenda but are just qualifiers of philosiphies or scientific catagory.
We created those concepts, they didn't create us.
You have a God belief, that's a religion.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
