you need to stop with the dishonest talking points about Terri Schiavo.
She wasn't "brain dead," and the autopsy did NOT show any proof she was PVS.
The only "proof" she was PVS was that a judge--an incompetent judge, by the way--ruled that she was based on "evidence" provided by the husband's doctors, doctors who were HIRED to say she was PVS in order that he could have her killed. The appellate courts could do nothing to reverse this decision because they do not rule on so-called "findings of fact." THAT was why the Schindlers went to Congress to try to get a de novo review of the case, which, by the way was perfectly legal--Michael Schiavo's and his supporters' lies to the contrary--as it is often used by those on death row.
Why must the pro-Michael Schiavo people be so dishonest? If you take away their "arguments," ALL of which are based on what Judge Greer ruled, MS's case would evaporate, and he would be seen as a person with a total lack of believability.

"LARGO, Fla. - An autopsy on Terri Schiavo backed her husband’s contention that she was in a persistent vegetative state, finding that she had massive and irreversible brain damage and was blind, the medical examiner’s office said Wednesday. It also found no evidence that she was strangled or otherwise abused."

Sorry, but the autopsy DID prove PVS. Just because you don't agree with the findings does not mean that you can simply rewrite them.
Napoleon the Clown - They couldn't take an MRI while she was alive because of an implanted thalamic stimulator.
Among other things, this was discussed in her autopsy report, which makes for quite a fascinating read. It basically puts the lie to everything that the various conservative pundits were saying, not to mention the garbage that the Joe Public idiots were throwing.
Among other things, it has this to say: "The decedent's brain was grossly abnormal and weighed only 615 grams (1.35 lbs.). That weight is less than half of the expected tabular weight for a decedent of her adult age of 41 years 3 months 28 days. By way of comparison, the brain of Karen Ann Quinlan weighed 835 grams at the time of her death, after 10 years in a similar persistent vegetative state."
If you take away their "arguments," ALL of which are based on what Judge Greer ruled, MS's case would evaporate, and he would be seen as a person with a total lack of believability.
Or: "If you take away all the evidence in his favor, he won't have a thing to go by."
I bet this works really well in all court cases. Just take away all the evidence the opposition brings in and you'll be guaranteed the "victory".
Why must the pro-Michael Schiavo people be so dishonest?
Well, I think we have a nominee for "Mirror, Mirror" Award...
There were 2 good results from the Schiavo fiasco: (1) many people arranged for living wills so they wouldn't suffer Terri Schiavo's fate, and (2) the anti-Michael Schiavo crowd were revealed to be ignorant, self-deluding, malicious liars.
"you need to stop with the dishonest talking points about Terri Schiavo."
I agree, except that we are not the dishonest ones.
"She wasn't "brain dead," and the autopsy did NOT show any proof she was PVS."
I'm sorry, sweety, but it did. It showed that about half of her brain was liquified; non-functional, not there.
"The only "proof" she was PVS was that a judge--an incompetent judge,"
assessed incompetent by you only because s/he didn't rule in your favor.
"ruled that she was based on "evidence" provided by the husband's doctors,"
Here again, you degrade the evidence, not by any unbiased criteria, but simply because you don't like it.
"doctors who were HIRED to say she was PVS in order that he could have her killed."
And, Terry Schiavo's parents HIRED doctors to present their side of the argument. That side lost the argument.
"The appellate courts could do nothing to reverse this decision because they do not rule on so-called "findings of fact."
Because the findings of facts process was done correctly.
"THAT was why the Schindlers went to Congress to try to get a de novo review of the case, which, by the way was perfectly legal--Michael Schiavo's and his supporters' lies to the contrary--as it is often used by those on death row."
Hardly. It was simply an attempt to avoid a legally arrived at decision they didn't like.
"Why must the pro-Michael Schiavo people be so dishonest?"
Just because you don't like the facts, it doesn't mean they are wrong.
"If you take away their "arguments," ALL of which are based on what Judge Greer ruled,"
No, Judge Greer ruled ON their arguments.
"MS's case would evaporate, and he would be seen as a person with a total lack of believability."
As would we all. If you take away all of our assertions and arguments, we would all have no believability.
I don't think Congress routinely does what it did in the Schiavo case, as this poster claims, does it?
This is the only time I've ever heard of Congress wasting its time making and passing a law aimed at only one person.
you need to stop with the dishonest talking points about Terri Schiavo.
She wasn't "brain dead," and the autopsy did NOT show any proof she was PVS.
Wow! Two lines, and you're already a hypocrite.
If you followed your own advice and chose to be honest, you would realize that an autopsy of Terry Schiavo showed that her brain had been replaced by liquid, and that she had no consciousness or chance of recovery.
I really don't understand conservative types. They'll fight for the rights of a fetus, a single cell, and a corpse, and then trample over the rights of people who have already been born and have not yet died.
Anyway, Susan, I have one question for you. Before they removed Terry Schiavo's feeding tube, did you offer Michael Schiavo the $15,000 per year or so that he needed to pay Terry's expenses? Yes or no.
There were so many people who wanted to keep Terry minimally "alive," but they all demanded that Michael Schiavo pay for it.
Confused?
