Too bad, it's the children's ACTUAL best interest that's important, like a good, loving and nurturing environment that gay couples CAN provide.

I think it's excellent that orphaned kids gets parents, regardless of gender, sexual preference or religion. No vitriol whatsoever, only happy, fuzzy feelings over here.

I'm convinced, fundies are from Bizarro World where evolution is a fairy tale while creationism is science, where giving gays equal rights is bigotry, where Jesus preached about war and unchecked capitalism, where fetuses are worth more than full grown human beings, and blind faith is exalted over reason. First, I would submit that your lot is BEYOND belief.
Second, that phrase implies that we are people without any beliefs, which is patently untrue.
I am not "tolerant," rather I value tolerance, the difference being that when people are tolerant, I am tolerant of them. Likewise, when a person shows intolerance of benign difference, I feel intolerant toward them.
Makes perfect sense if you think about it...not that thinking appears to be your strong suit.
While I disagree with the OP's comments (the idea of saying that by not allowing them to be bigots, liberals are bigots themselves is laughable), I have to say I disagree with the decision the OP refers to. As hateful as it is, if the Catholic charity is not run by public moneys, they should have the right to set their own criteria for who they will help and who they won't.

Why should people who neither are harming others nor are criminals be discriminated against? Why should a religious cult be free to act illegally when other groups must be law abiding? Why does the Catholic charity think it is above the equality laws that all others must abide by? Other charities are not allowed to discriminate, what's so special about the Catholic charity? And do they expect to receive the same benefits and perks, if there are any, that other registered charities receive?
You know, most of the people in my church actually believe in the whole "Catholics are supposed to be helpful to all God's children" thing.

But if you tax churches, wouldn't that justify their being able to lobby and influence the government?
I'm not trying to say you main idea is wrong, but logically the only possibility is to cut religious institutions out of lobbying because they don't pay taxes and to force them to pay taxes if they want to lobby.

If the Church still ran the state, that would be one thing. However, here it is acting as an agent of the state-run adoption program, and must therefore comply with state standards, same as everyone else.

I realize it's unlikely anyone will read this this late in the game (I got bored one day and decided to go back through my posts), but I'm going to comment anyways. I've snipped most of this for brevity.
The reason I think that a private organization that is not receiving public funding (which, apparently, it is. I didn't realize that, thanks Doc Whom. For the sake of argument, however, let's pretend it isn't for now) should be allowed to discriminate is because it is a private organization. If we tell people that they have the right to associate with whomever they choose, we also have to allow them the opposite - the right to not associate with whomever they choose, even if others find it distasteful. It's the same as free speech - the right to speak your mind doesn't end just because someone finds what you have to say distasteful.
As I said, initially I thought the charity wasn't receiving public funds, and thus my comment. If they are receiving public funds, then of course, they need to abide by the same laws as every other group that receives public funds.
