If humanists don't believe in life after death, why would they need a counselor for?
Oh gee, I don't know, maybe the hundreds of other services the chaplains provide that don't involve life after death! Like how to deal with seeing their fellow soldiers blow up by IED's mabye, or hving some one to talk to about dealing with a kill or be killed situation where the soldier was require to kill a teenaged kid? But no. As far as you are concerned the counselors are only there to reaffirm to the soldie that he or she will go to happy jesus land when they die. Just how fucking narrowminded and ignorant can you possibly be?
All they need is a psychologist or a psychiatrist.
Many chaplains are trained psychologists you uneducated twit.
Or somebody to "strengthen" the lies they are living on as it crumbles in the reality of facing death
You do realize that the chaplains service does far more that, don't you? Of course you don't. Because it is oh-so obvious that you have never served in the military and haven't the slightest clue what services the chaplains provide.

Let me guess, because there are "no atheists in foxholes", right? Except there are and they deserve to have access to the counselors in the chaplains service without having to be pressured to accept any particular religious belief.
Before a humanist can become some sort of an adviser, he must at least know HOW SOIL TURNED INTO BRAINS.

It is dangerous to our military if it would hire IDIOTS AS ADVISERS.
Chaplains don't advise on policy or tactics, something you would know were you as knowledgeable on the subject as you claim to be.
