Cmon, Zeus? He's a myth. The people who believed in those gods KNEW they were myths. That's why they are referred to as mythology. Christianity is not referred to as mythology. Roman and Greek gods are. But, they didn't actually believe those gods existed. They knew it was a myth.

This has got to be a Poe
If not...well, I've gotta know, dude, if they didn't believe the Gods were real, why did they make sacrficies to them, build temples to them and leave offerings of food, drink and random doodads and trinkets for the gods at the aforementioned temples?
Oh, how I love his/her/shim's further comments:
Perhaps God allows earthquakes to happen because people are stupid enough to build houses where earthquakes happen? Seems like a common sense thing to me more than it is God's fault. Don't build houses on land where earthquakes happen and nobody gets hurt during earthquakes. It's quite simple really.
Nice username. FOADIAF, cunt.
Coincidentally, I was perusing some essays on Philo yesterday, and learned that he was considered by some to be the architect of the strange dualism composed of Christian philosophy, and the blood-god of the Jews. The heavy application of Hellenic spiritual mysteries was required to achieve this.
I was thinking that of the three elements stipulated here, eliminating the Jewish deity and elevating the Hellenic mysteries would make the Christian system very good.
So if you don't know it's a myth, it isn't?

I should go to the States sometime. I would really like a pic of me with one of these pure-bred fundies.
Be careful down south, Freboy - the primitives may think your evil demon-box will capture their soul and your intent with the tiny image is to make voodoo with it.

Oh, Self-Mutilation. You're just like Jigsaw in the "Saw" films. You create these (what you think are) intricate argumental traps (supposedly) designed to slowly destroy the thinking of Atheists you lure into such, via your 'pearls of wisdom '; crushing & tearing apart their proven facts-based logic, leaving them different people: 'fundies', just like you. The only difference between you & the films' villain, you don't know exactly how they'll work, so you test them out on yourself , as per your real screename: 'Self-Mutilation '.
Another example of argumental auto-evisceration to add to the list here, methinks...:

"They knew it was a myth."
Venus was a myth. Tuxedo Kamen was a mythter . [/"Sailor Moon"] [/hyper-smartarse] X3
Yup, they knew they were myths, that's why they prayed to them, and sacrificed to them. Because they didn't want to incur the wrath of imaginary beings.
Idiot.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
