Nope, not seeing a P-51 Mustang (which even had British-licenced Rolls-Royce V-12 Merlin engines, as per the Supermarine Spitfire & Hawker Hurricane) in that former photo. And it's manufacturer, North American Aviation, also made the later F-86 Sabre jet fighter; the most advanced plane of it's time. Like I say: Not exactly seeing those US-made planes among those British Gloster Meteors in the latter photo, neither.
'The United States was unwilling to sell F-86 Sabre aircraft to Israel'. Very telling, eh? Thus Israel had to come crawling to it's former masters to buy jet aircraft for it's air force. And another thing (from above Wiki link):
'Having sold Meteors to their neighbours, the British were willing to sell Israel a limited number of aircraft, at least partly in an attempt to maintain a balance of power in the region.'

I refer you to Thinking Allowed's comment, Yahoodie. There's a lot of countries surrounding Israel that are allies of the pro-Israel US today. One word: Jordan. [/paradox]
The UK has sold Challenger II tanks and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to Saudi Arabia. David Cameron's getting pally with China, of late. Think on that, Yahoodie. [/Geo-politics] [/post-Soviet Russia]
