I am an American living abroad and have looked into the case a little and it doe not take much understanding to see that what Kent did was not wrong, especially when he tried on many occasions to make sure he was doing what was right. All you fools who think he should rot in jail better think about your own God given rights and your futures. Even if Kent did "break a law" doe that mean the law i just. Example: Imagine the government makes a law that says you are not allowed to eat anymore, would you sheeple just fall in line or do what you could to continue your life? Anyway I will pray for you, and remember "ever knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is lord". Its just a matter of time.

What Hovind "did" was 52 accounts of fraud and tax evasion. How is that not wrong?
As for your piss poor analogy it's just that, piss poor. No government is going to outlaw eating because it's the most ridiculous thing you could think up, even the Russian Czars would declare it a trifle unjust. What Kent did was basically steal money from the government and declare his companies and amusement parks to be non-profit, then reap in huge profits. So not only was it illegal it was also immoral.
How is getting punished for trying not to pay the government tax money from your massive amount of savings unfair? Tax evasion and fraud are crimes, and I am personally glad to see that at least one person is actually getting punished for it, since white collar criminals usually get off relatively easily. (It's ironic that you are accusing us of being sheeple, however...)
The man commits fraud, lies after swearing on the bible, and breaks 8 out of 10 commandments. I have no idea what his relationship with his parents is like, and whether or not he worked on Sundays.
But he's still the holy hero to these idiots. And they think we're the sheeple?
Well, the myriads of tax evasion, fraud, etc. aside.
Hint: What does Matthew 22:21 say? Do the words "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" ring a bell?
Did I also mention that this is in your favorite book of fables...
Kent did NOT render that which was Caesar's, pure and simple.
Sure, you could argue the law is unjust (as a libertarian, I tend to gravitate toward that view). Nevertheless, until that law is rescinded, you break the law, you go to jail. Not that hard to figure out.
This Zach guy can't figure it out. He's not only an 1D-10T, but one overstuffed with Epic Fail...
"Imagine the government makes a law that says you are not allowed to eat anymore, would you sheeple just fall in line or do what you could to continue your life?"

The hypocrisy! THE HYPOCRISY!!!
You're right, it is unfair that we want him to pay the admission fee for our rights, liberties, and protections. If you promise to forgive us for our assholic ways, we will continue to pay for "Mr." Hovind.
Yes, because making it illegal to not pay taxes is EXACTLY like making it illegal to eat.
I mean, come on guys. They're practically the same thing.
Another Hovind Apologist. News flash, Zach ol' buddy ol' pal; Fundies should never use the word sheeple as it refers to fundies or others who blinding follow rhetoric.
And your analogy is not only retarded, but asinine.
It's just a matter of time.
Yep - about another 8 years if he behaves himself.
Oh oh oh oh - supposing the government made a law that made oxygen an illegal substance - and then they banned the heartbeat; making talking a crime - that's a good one; thinking is now a capital offence...
Idiot.
"ever knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is lord". Its just a matter of time.
Hey, I was like 10 when I did that. Give me a break, Zachy. We all do crazy things in our youth...
Even if Kent did "break a law" doe that mean the law i just.
So it doesn't matter if he did break the law or not? He didn't try to "make sure what he was doing was right" he was "Getting advice on how to screw the system". Can you see the difference there?
it doe not take much understanding to see that what Kent did was not wrong
It takes just a smidgen more than no understanding to see that what Kent did was very wrong and would get you incarcerated for a lot longer in most countries. What he basically did was steal from every other taxpayer in the US.
What's with the "if you think Hovind committed a crime you're going to hell" BS? It was a church member who turned him in!
And no, you did not "look into" the case. You appear to have read a few uninformed rants written by his supporters.
Sheeple? Hahahahahaha! You are the one who says God is your shepherd. Did God tell Kent to not pay his taxes? I guess he likes using roads and having his rights protected for free. And I guess he supports the 'wars against muslims'? The army doesn't work for free. Oh, and all those Christian politicians he supports? I guess he doesn't support them very much since he doesn't seem to want to pay their salaries. You're right. He shouldn't have been jailed. He should have been exiled from the US. He obviously doesn't want to live here if he doesn't want to pay his taxes. He doesn't want to do even his most basic duty to society. He wants thins his way but he doesn't want to pay for it. You don't see anything wrong with that?
Then there is obviously something wrong with you.
Look dumb fuck Brooder, a lot of us good Americans are paying taxes to support issues that we totally disagree with(war in Iraq for war profiteers, big oil tax breaks, Bush's salary,) but WE PAY OUR TAXES like Americans should. The true sheeple in this are you and gullible clown's like you that refuse to admit that you were taken in by a scam artist using religion as his hook. A cheat, a swindler, and a BLASPHEMER for lying under oath in court after swearing on a BIBLE to tell the truth "SO HELP ME GOD"!!!! The truth hurts doesn't it?
Imagine the government makes a law that says you are not allowed to eat anymore ...
That law would be unconstitutional; and besides, no elected official would ever get away with proposing such a law.
Even if Kent did "break a law"(,) doe(s) that mean the law i(s) just(?).
If you think a law is unjust, you may challenge it in court. Kent tried that every step of the way. It didn't work. Unlike a law against eating, the government has the right to impose taxes under the Constitution. That's been decided in multiple cases. If people don't like the law, they can elect people to change it.
... especially when he tried on many occasions to make sure he was doing what was right.
The reason he got such a long sentence was because that was exactly what he did not do. He could have just shut up and paid the taxes, fines and interest penalties he owed. Instead, he continued to raise stupid "tax protester" arguments that had already been thrown out, filed frivolous lawsuits against the IRS and its employees and engaged in money-laundering to hide his money.
speaking of sheeple...You notice how they always make up some ridiculous "comparision" fable or say Kent should just be let go for all the "good" he's done?
Hey, sheeple, are you all not filing taxes now?
Which is more like being thrown in jail for eating ??
a) Being thrown in jail for Tax evasion and fraud.
b) Being thrown into a pit of eternal fire and unimaginable torture for engaging in consensual sex with an adult of the gender you were born attracted to.
... actually, to be honest it's probably still (a) but that's only because (b) is far faaar fucking worse. Ever ask for one good reason why gays should be killed, Zach ??? Baaah.
If a Christian commits a crime, he wasn't really a Christian. Unless questioning his Christianity would make all the people he's duped feel uncomfortable, then it wasn't really a crime.
Either way, they can do no wrong, ever!
@ Patches:
If a Christian commits a crime, he wasn't really a Christian.
Who's to say Hovind's even a Christian?
What Christian would lay his hand on the Bible, swear to tell the truth and then repeatedly lie?
No, he's just a thieving con-man who's found an excellent source of gullible fools.
If the government whose laws you are subject to ever did pass some stupid law against eating, it would be your duty as a law abiding citizen to follow the law and not eat.
Kinda like if the government that Kent Hovind is subject to passed a law about paying taxes.
If you choose to eat in defiance of the law, you must be prepared to take the consequences, or you could fight to have the law overturned.
Kent chose to act in defiance of the law, and is now feeling the consequences. He tried to fight the law, and lost.
By the way, can anyone explain to me why the people who are most vocal about the illegality of income tax are still filing taxes every year?
"I...have looked into the case a little...." Understatement of the millenium. Dude, a trip to wikipedia could tell you that Kent Hovind deserves to be in some sort of behavior modification facility. I'd personally root for insane asylum, but prison's good too.
"Anyway I will pray for you, and remember "ever knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is lord". Its just a matter of time."
::snrk:: Right.
Have I mentioned just how much I *hate* this fucking verse? Seriously, man, it's over used, as well as wrong.
I pay my taxes every year without complaint, because I understand that government needs money to function. I'm not thrilled about it, mind you, but I don't complain. So I have absolutely no sympathy for tax evaders who get caught and convicted. I wish it happened more often.
Zach, stop praying for me. I find it disrespectful and insulting. If I want prayer, I'll do it myself. Thanks.
"Yeah, paying taxes is completely evil. I mean, who needs schools and roads and police departments and firefighters."
To be fair, the Federal taxes that Hovind was evading don't really pay for those items. Schools, roads, police, and fire departments are funded almost exclusively by state and local taxes. The biggest chunk of the Federal expenditures goes to paying out Social Security benefits.
Still, without Federal income taxes, we'd have to find some other way to fund the military.

tl;dr, Zach. Fact is, he didn't pay his taxes. A big no-no with the Feds. He's now doing ten in the pen, being assraped by Bubba. Just consider yourself lucky you're not.
Oh, and remember, Kentypoos: don't forget to drop the soap!
>:D
Render unto Caesar, stupid.
No government would ever outlaw eating, as that would kill off their subjects, and themselves for that matter.
Confused?
