Gay parades are not to show that 'our way is the only way'; it's to create public awareness and have some freedom and peace about who we are. Like my parents used to tell me when I asked how come we never got a Kid's Day - every day is straight day. You don't see a kid getting kicked and punched in the schoolyard because they're straight.
