If you believe that god created the heavens and the earth, then the heavens and the earth are his primary work. Study of his work should therefore be foundational. Putting anything else in front of that is idolatry.

That is why I have made it my mission in life to make sure insects are compatible with scripture. I rip off a pair of legs on all insects I encounter to make them biblically correct. Those damn satanic genes keeps messing up biblical truth!

So, hypothetically, if the bible said that the sky is pink and purple flying elephants bring good tidings, then that must mean it's true, huh? Sounds rediculous, and it's meant to. While nothing like this is in the bible, there are many things in there that are equally rediculous, not even from a scientific standpoint, but just a common sense one. This is why conservative fundamentalist and evangelical christianity will never evolve an intelligence past that of rock slime.
