[re: A video of Sean Connery promoting physical violence against women]
Sometimes... a stinging cheek is what it takes for a woman to realize she has gone to far.

@ Mortician.
If she attacks me, I'll overcome my ingrained politeness and defend myself.
But then again, I'd do the same for anyone.
Because that's equality. Singling out that you'd never ever hit a woman suggests that you'd be OK with hitting a guy at some point.
Yes, it's wrong to make unprovoked attacks against women, it's wrong to do it to men too.
And you'd be surprised how many times men are on the receiving end of domestic violence.
I agree with speccy4i.
Some women are incredibly violent, what if she was harming a child, would you go to defend it?
(I'm a woman and I believe in self defense for anyone against anyone about to hurt you).
But yeah as for domestic violence against ANYBODY that is sick. I don't get these fundies, and I feel sorry for anyone (in this case it is a LOT more likely to be a man hitting a woman for biblical reasons) stuck in the receiving end of this kind of situation.
To "preachinjail" (interesting name), hitting someone like that IS going too far yourself!
Agree with speccy4i, if a woman deserves to be hit, she will be, just like a man. Equality, you don't get a free pass to treat people like shit just because you are a woman.
On the bright side, a girl with a stinging cheek who's just been slapped by this individual can be safe in the knowledge that she's not as dumb. The pain will eventually reside, but this moron will be stupid for the rest of his life.
Sean Connery did NOT say this bit about the stinging cheek. I remember hearing years ago that he had said something to the effect of hitting a woman isn't the worst thing you can do to her. Taken in context, he was referring to EMOTIONAL AND VERBAL ABUSE actually being more devastating than a physical blow. And as someone who has been subject to emotional abuse her entire life as well as occasional physical abuse, I tend to agree.
Attack this idiot fundie, please, but realize he is using Connery's words out of context to promote his own agenda.
Men are, on average, bigger and stronger than women, and are able to hit much, much harder. They also have their sensitive and vulnerable gonads on the outside.
Nature has a way of redressing the balance. Just saying...
Sometimes a stinging cheek is what it takes for a woman to realize she has gone to far.____________preachinjail
Hey! OJ! How's it goin' in the slams, bro?
I'm not so sure about the whole "under no circumstances" part about hitting back. Man or Woman, if someone comes at me with fists flying, I will do what I can to defend myself. However, I will never, EVER strike someone unprovoked.
Hi, my father is a lifetime member of the NRA, I know how to shoot a gun.
I did my time in an abusive relationship, NEVER AGAIN. Would you like to meet my friend? His name is SiG.
@Mortician
Indeed, women should never be hit...
Unless, she asks for a spanking during a rough night of sex.
Sometimes... getting ears nailed on the door is what it takes for a man to realize he has gone too far, but I'm only using it as a rhetorical dismissal and not a literal instruction.
Just sayin'
(I'm going for Ears Nailed on the Door because I'm too tired right now to read most of the comments here, and I'm sure someone's already brought up Dying In a Fire. If not, tough.)
Well, if the woman in question has totally lost it, and has picked up a revolver and is about to shoot somebody out of anger -- and by hitting her I could knock the gun out of her hand -- then, yes, I'd say it's okay to hit a woman.
But that's not a circumstance you run into very often.
Taken in context, he was referring to EMOTIONAL AND VERBAL ABUSE actually being more devastating than a physical blow. And as someone who has been subject to emotional abuse her entire life as well as occasional physical abuse, I tend to agree.
Bull fucking shit. Physical abuse IS also emotional abuse. I know what it's like and it's mental and emotional torture just wondering what the next blow will be like.
This is fucking disgusting.
And then, of course, is she goes too far with her wardrobe, like wearing short skirts, you'll have no choice but to rape her, because she was asking for it, right? Those bitches never learn, they just bring it all on themselves, don't they?
I hope whatever jail this scumbag's in isn't actually letting him have a pulpit.
Fuck you
seriously
I'll give you a fucking stinging cheek!!
If ANYONE hits me, especially a male, they would be in court before they raised their hand for the second blow
And sometimes it takes cutting a mans dick off for him to realize he's gone too far.
Edit:
I see I wasn't the first to come up with that one.
At the people above, when I was in an abusive relationship, there were times that the emotional abuse got so bad that I would purposely trigger a physical event. Because once he had beaten the hell out of me things were good for a few months before it started building again.
or a bright red bare ass
*has a hardon*
if a woman hit me, id hit her back. if a guy took offense and jumped in, id beat the shit out of him.
nobody fucks with me. NOBODY. i dont care if you have a penis or a vagina, if you put hands on me you get WRECKED.
i dont mean to give the impression that i try to act like a hardass always, i dont at all. but i treat women equally to men, because thats what they say they want.
if a short little 90 pound guy hit me, id beat the shit out of him. a short little 90 pound chick will get the exact same treatment.
i dont start fights with anyone, or try to instigate them, but if they want to escalate it to a physical level, by god they will wish they had never met me.
For what it's worth, preachinjail is getting virtually no support on the original forum. The prevailing theme of the respones is that there is no place for spousal violence.
Something good to take away from this if you choose.
BTW - I understand what POE is from the context, but where did the term come from?
"Sometimes... a stinging cheek is what it takes for a woman to realize she has gone to far"
Okay then. If you're as right as you claim, do just that to the nearest woman to you. I suspect one of two things will happen (check one):
[ ] You'll be beaten to within an inch of your miserable life, have your computer smashed, then thrown out of the house & disowned by your mother, as you'd deserve to be.
[ ] Said woman would report you to the police, whereupon you'd be arrested for assault & battery, tried & sentenced to jail, whereupon you'd become the cellblock's bitch and cumdumpster (especially so for beating up a woman).
...oh, maybe that's why you're in the slammer right now, if your nick's anything to go by. I hope so, you waste of DNA. Fortunately some on that forum have better morals than you. Thus they still enjoy their freedom.
Hitting a woman should be as socially unacceptable as paedophilia.
Honestly, if your skill of debate is so bad that you have to hurt another person to get your point across, why not actually hurt them? Honestly, wussily slapping a person is like eating a half a donut when you're on a diet. You still fail, so why not do it with a flourish?
Keep in mind that your all-powerful god decided to put your genitals on the outside and made them very sensitive to boot. And you just gave that woman a very concrete justification to use that fact to her advantage.
"Sometimes... a stinging cheek is what it takes for a woman to realize she has gone to far.
Just sayin'"
And on every one of those occasions, two acres* is what it takes for an abusive man to realise he has gone too far.
Just sayin'. As a man who respects women.
*- Given 'Two Acres' being the term for the after-effects of an almighty kick in the bollocks. And consider yourself lucky it's just a kick in the bollocks. Two Words: Lorena Bobbitt.
>_<
Using physical means to defend yourself or someone else may be justified. Hitting someone because they offend you or won't do what you tell them to, or just because you've had a bad day, never is. Whatever your gender.
Confused?
