Everyone knows what I am talking about, the majority of Americans are disgusted with the ACLU as it continues its assault on Christianity and limited government, every patriotic American must understand what is at stake: our liberty and freedom. Our hope as Americans lies in the foundations of America that, though undermined, still exist today. Though seemingly esoteric, the founding and moral principles present a hope to our country. George Washington said, "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports." While it is these “pillars of human happiness” that the ACLU has sought to destroy, Americans have the ability stand up to the ACLU and reclaim America.

The ACLU is the only thing keeping Fred Phelps from going to jail.
What's your right-winged, bigotted problem again?
I do not agree with what you say, sir, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
Oh, and maybe it's time to up my monthly donation...
Quite the opposite. The ACLU is the one protecting our rights against the tyrany of the republicans.
And enough with the 'assault on christianity' bullshit. You are not being persecuted. Get the hell over it. Period.
It's like the trade unions -- as corrupt and bureaucratic as they can be, they're still the ones responsible for you having set hours on the work week and a minimum wage. If you don't like those, I don't care who you are, you're not paying attention or you just lack basic human decency.
And can we get a context on that Washington quote?
the majority of Americans are disgusted with the ACLU as it continues its assault on Christianity and limited government
This is contradictory. He complains about an ACLU assault on limited government, and then complains because they try to limit the government from making this a Christian theocracy.
Clark's gripe is with the Constitution, not the ACLU. All the ACLU does is to petition the court to enforce the Constitution. Clark is perfectly entitled to stand up to the ACLU. All he has to do is hire a Constitutional lawyer and file an amicus curiae brief with the court trying the case (whether it's accepted or not is another matter). Interest groups, and even the President, do this all the time. The ACLU does it, too, when they aren't the actual litigants but it involves an issue they're interested in. Then the courts decide who's right.
Religion is a necessity to humankind in a sense of the word. That is, we use mythology to tie ourselves in with reality, to give ourselves a viewpoint and a purpose. However, it should be noted that that purpose and those mythologies are, of course, subject to change. As time goes on old ideas die and fade into antiquity, and works like the Bible, which borrows HEAVILY from Babylonian mythology, will become once again, just stories. Ideas. Not beliefs : )
Hang on... Religion and Morality are indispensable supports of Political Prosperity, not Human Happiness.
Not only do you quote a lie, but you then twist the lie to say something else!
Adam:
Some of us do outgrow the need for any sort of mythology, you know. I mean, which is more (for lack of a better word) awesome: a global flood with no discernible mechanism, or the Permian-Triassic extinction, which was, if anything, far more harrowing and has an abundance of possible explanations?
Everyone knows what I am talking about, the majority of Americans are disgusted with fundamentalism as it continues its assault on democracy and equal rights, every patriotic American must understand what is at stake: our liberty and freedom. Our hope as Americans lies in the foundations of America that, though undermined, still exist today. Though seemingly esoteric, the founding and moral principles present a hope to our country. George Washington said, "As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality." While it is these "pillars of human happiness" that the fundies have sought to destroy, Americans have the ability to stand up to religious fanatics and reclaim America.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
