[In an editorial about a pro-gay McDonalds ad airing in France]

You didn’t know that gay people are constantly kicked out of fast-food restaurants did you? But now they have finally found a fast-food safe haven: McDonald’s.

What is interesting is that after a promise to stay neutral on this issue, McDonalds breaks that promise in such a pointless way. What is the point of this commercial, that gay people are allowed to eat McDoubles too? It seems more like a deliberate slap in the face to those of us who oppose homosexuality.

We need to demonstrate to this company that even if this ad never reaches our airwaves, we now know where the company stands. And if they refuse to return to their neutral policy, they will lose our business.

What are you talking about? Letting people eat there regardless of who they are IS neutral. Only a fundie can turn "I don't give a shit" into "They're throwing gay pride parades at all McDonald's restaurants".

Oh you poor, persecuted heterosexual male! Also, a slap is too nice, bigots deserve to be kicked in the face.

Right, like McDonald's really cares about some nobody fundies over the rather large homosexual demographic. Go ahead and boycott McDonald's or better yet, boycott food altogether as it's likely that at some point a homosexual handled your food and you don't want to catch teh ghey now do you?

I seriously doubt there are any corporations in the West that actively refuse to sell to people who have money. It would be stupid in the extreme. Corporations like McDonald's have one goal in life - separating you from your hard earned money. To them, there would be no reason to care if you're gay, straight, black, white, Christian, Muslim, whatever. So long as you have a desire for their service and the means to pay for it, you will be welcome there.

Beyond that, did you really think (because this is what I'm getting from your comment) that McDonald's and other fast food chains were interrogating customers as they came up to the windows to ensure they weren't gay/Muslim/<fitb>?

As someone who has worked there in the past, I can assure you, we really didn't give a damn. There simply wasn't enough time. Our focus was to get their orders, take their money, give them their food, and get rid of them.

Probably. They're basically ensuring that they have a good image with a certain segment of society. Granted, it's not a very big segment but it's likely large enough to matter to their bottom line.

So there's a pro-gay McDonald's advert in France? Good for them. Why? Two reasons:

1- It only serves to emphasise the fact that Europe is progressive (I know that's a dirty word to you fundies).

2- McDonald's, Burger King, KFC et al, as well as all other companies (certainly brewers like Beck's & Budweiser) know that they alienate the market that is referred to as 'The Pink Pound/Dollar/Euro/*insert currency of your choice here*' at their peril.

After all, are you prepared to explain to the shareholders at said AGMs why their dividends are down, despite projected profit levels to the contrary?

You're not the only market out there - and not just in the US. Just ask Tesco's here in the UK (and most of the world. Coming soon to a Wal-Mart* near you!)

*- Wal-Mart took over Asda here in the UK. Not even they could make a dent in the monolithic Tesco's. When they mentioned on their website recently, about their interest in opening stores in the US, Wal-Mart's share price went down 8% just on the strength of that alone.

Fucking bunch of butthurt crybabies won't be satisfied until homosexuals are burned in the street. For that is truly "neutral" in their eyes. I think a slap in the face is being too easy on these horrible horrible people who have gotten away with disgusting hatred (homophobia, obviously), ridiculous lies and conspiracies ("the gay agenda") and immoral conduct (teaching that difference = WRONG) for FAR FAR FAR too long. I think every food company in the world needs to make pro-gay ads so these fucktards are forced to either join the modern world or starve and die because of their lame boycotts. All of the food that would've fed those dimwits could instead go to the millions of poor, starving people out there.

Sound a little extreme? Meh. Homophobia has existed and been accepted far too long, and has to go away somehow.

It's somethign I see disturbingly often. "You aren't being beaten to death in the streets. You can sue if you get fired because of your sexuality. You can exist without us terrorizing you overmuch. So why are you complaining? You have it much better than you used to! You should be happy." This attitude really upsets me, because it's like buying a car, and getting a unicycle instead, with the salesman saying "Well at least you don't have to walk anymore! You have it SO much better than you did!"
