Just as the cure for Chinese poverty was to import the economic laws and customs of Hong Kong into Shanghai, the cure for Singaporean infertility is to import the marital laws and customs of Timor Leste, where women cannot own property, because they are wards of their parents until they become wards of their husbands.

"import the marital laws and customs of Timor Leste, where women cannot own property, because they are wards of their parents until they become wards of their husbands."
And we're back to the poverty creating laws of Shanghai.
The phrase "Just as" is usually followed by two comparable things, dearie. Here you have two opposite things. More freedom in economy helped Shanghai, while you think less freedom for women will help Singapore. Is there a Singaporean infertility crisis, in the first place? Sure, the fertility rates might be dropping, but as the third densest country in the world (according to Wikipedia), I'd say it definitely needs to reduce its population somewhat.
Why not live as you learn, Jimbo; you can be a ward of your parents until you marry. OK? Do you think that will help your sperm count? Why would not being able to own property make women prone to have more kids? I'd say that providing women with free (or at least affordable) and readily available first-rate maternity care, safe and patient-focused deliveries, and long paid maternity leaves will make women willing to have at least two babies. Poor maternity care, dangerous and/or hurried deliveries will scare many from having a second child. I'm not saying that this is the problem in Singapore, but it is a problem, world-wide, that lots of women die every day from complications from pregnancies and child-births. Getting pregnant is one of the most dangerous things a woman can do...
Wrong even in the first count, the PRC was able to maintain it's (suspiciously consistent) economic growth because of their government's consistent manipulation of their currency. (what, you really think Chinese labor is THAT cheap? Yea, that's because the purchasing power of the RMB is not actually reflected in the official exchange rate). Fueling their growth is the West's continuous tact consent of said blatant currency manipulation and continuous trade (because it serves corporate interest). Most of this has little to do with the former Libertarian wet dream that was Hong Kong. (another fun fact, Hong Kong is now more prosperous than it was when under UK rule, chew on that for a second.
Heck even if your first point is valid (which it isn't), is oppressing half of humanity worth the cost of stroking the egos of a few?
... oh wait you fundies sees oppressing others as a goal in itself, you sick fucks.
Since when does owning property make someone infertile? If that was the case shouldn't men give up their property, too? Oh, wait, you're a man. That means that whatever tortured logic you come up with won't ever apply to men.
Oh, and might I also add that sometimes negative population growth is a good thing?
The mass die-off during the Black Death also spelled the end of the feudal system, when the serfs labor increased enough for them to have actual bargaining power verse their lords.
One of India's biggest problems (for their future economic growth) currently is their (almost) unchecked population growth, and their society's entrenched anti-women mentality. (somehow, their big evil commie neighbor has less of both of those problems...)
Then again, explosive pop growth is good from fundies, more labors to slave for them, more fodder for their wars (both spiritual and otherwise)
Oh yes, because the best way to ensure that the Chinese economic system remains stable (relatively) is by disenfranchising half of it's population. Yes, that makes sense, and will in no way totally fuck up the domestic and international market. It will also in no way attract negative international opinion in any way.
He's right that denying women rights generally leads to higher birthrates - largely because only one party has a say in the matter.
But why does Singapore need such birthrates? It's a highly populated city-state. There are a lot of people on Earth now - a modest global decline would not be a terrible thing.
And if birthrates do need to be increased, policies which encourage families to have children via financial incentives (including things like free childcare, maternity leave, and tax credits) are far more humane than subjugating half the human race.
Um, it's got rather more to do with infant mortality rates:
Singapore 1.92/1,000 live births (1st out of 188 countries)
Timor-Leste 66.81/1,000 live births (162nd out of 188 countries)
Once the infant mortality rate drops below a critical level and there is a strong likelihood that children will survive into adulthood, fertility rates drop. And maybe you'd like to reflect on China's natality policy and its contribution to its current wealth. Learn something about demographics, mkay?
Then again, he may not even want economic prosperity in the first place (since at no point did he say anything about improving Singapore's economy)...
... given that rampant population growth will cause a drop in the quality of life, and fundies have a tendency to take advantage of desperate people...
Unchecked population growth brought on by oppression of half of the human population serves the fundies purpose quite well, given that they will have more fodder for their sadistic causes...
"Cure for Chinese poverty?" Hahahahahaha, tell that to the wage slaves in the foreign-owned factories and the sweatshops. And drink the tears of the Chinese housing bubble, like huge cities that are completely empty, the world's largest mall with almost no tenants.
"Cure of Singaporean infertility?" Why the hell would Singapore need to cure that? It's only one of the most densely populated countries on Earth, on a planet that is rapidly spiraling past the ability to feed its people under our current economic system. And aren't our Chinese friends in the first example all only-childs anyway? Women not being able to own property sure doesn't seem like a good system under any form of modern economics. "Oh, I have a great idea how to run this business/use this land", "Sorry, you can't do that, you weren't born with the right parts."
Isn't this blog libertarian bullshit? I guess freedom doesn't apply if you don't have a cock.
Confused?
