I am concerned about this current trend among “artists” to disrespect the conservative Christian values that our fathers, brothers and sons have fought and died for.
The founding fathers were Deists, FFS. Don't these people ever take a hint? Artists can sing, paint, and write about whatever they want. It's in the Constitution.
The disrespect that these “creative” types have for the core moral fiber of our freedom-loving society is tantamount to high treason.
The disrespect that you have for the First Amendment, which clearly gives us the freedom of speech, is tantamount to high treason.
Television, motion pictures, literature, plays, music and visual arts have all given rise to anti-American propaganda that is aimed at one target audience, alone our children.
Even in heavy metal, a supposedly "devilish" form of music, I can name at least two songs about 9/11 that promote conservatism and patriotism. Iced Earth did "When the Eagle Cries" and Dream Theater did "Sacrificed Sons". I think that your values are much more alive in the arts than you think.
This is an abomination of our free-speech rights that cannot be allowed to continue.
Free speech means FREE SPEECH. Don't make me get out the cluebat.
Imagine a generation of children growing up with a Green Day view of life that insinuates that our elected leaders, chosen by the voting majority, are nothing more than “American Idiots.”
Because George W. was elected by the voting majority, right? Seriously, Green Day sucks, and that song was a lame attempt at political commentary. I suspect that most of Green Day's fans wouldn't give a shit about politics either way.
What about the Hollywood agenda to promote socialist-leaning candidates and anti-war-on-terror movies like “Syrianna” and Michael Moore’s disturbing pro-al-Qaida propaganda films?
Nope. Doesn't exist. Besides, a little socialism (social security and Medicare) can be a great thing for a democracy, and if you think Moore is "pro-al-Qaida", how the fuck did you get that PhD?
What about the preponderance of alternative lifestyle movies such as “Brokeback Mountain” and “TransAmerica”?
I didn't see either of these movies, but you're a bigoted asshole, aren't you? I know, it's an ad hominem attack, but it's an entirely justified one.
This trend needs to be stopped immediately before our great nation succumbs to moral ambiguity. The malleable minds of our children are at stake.
Where do I give you my credit card number?
My suggestion for solving this problem is simple: cut tax dollars for arts funding in our public schools.
I'm going to go to Australia, find a platypus, and beat you over the head with it.
The arts are a breeding ground for anti-American sentiment that cannot be tolerated in our post- 9/11 world.
There is nothing more "anti-American" than the suppression of the arts.
Paintings of trees and placid scenes of natural beauty are sadly being replaced by images of President Bush as a buffoonish, uncomprehending “American Idiot.”
Bush is a really, really easy target. He's a moron, and his stupidity has killed thousands and left thousands more poor.
Worse yet, these neo-artists depict our sacred religious icons in unspeakable ways that I will refrain from describing.
I'm in an art class, and the only crosses I've seen in our art have been drawn by Christians celebrating their faith. And what in the name of the Invisible Pink Unicorn is a "neo-artist"?
Our kids are being brainwashed by these left-wing Nazis who pretend to be cool and trendy.
How is encouraging someone to think for themself "brainwashing" them? Not to mention that "left-wing Nazi" is an oxymoron, unless you're either Jonah Goldberg or a dingbat.
I, for one, do not want my tax dollars to pay the salaries of leftist propaganda fomenters.
Tough shit.
The money spent on arts programs, theater productions, speech league competitions and other “questionable value” expenditures could be better used to fund sports-based programs.
No, it wouldn't. Jocks don't need more money thrown at them. Besides, who do you think designed the font you're typing in? An artist, that's who.
These programs teach children to be a team player. They prepare kids for a life as a co-worker, solid citizen, and, if necessary, as a soldier to help fight the war on terror. Statistically, children who excel at sports do better in life than those who paint hateful pictures.
If I sound a little bitter about this, it's because I am - I was cut from my school's incredibly competitive tennis team. Jocks suck. They really do. Who do you think is buying 50 Cent albums? Not the intelligent people who care about music, that's for sure. No, it's the jocks. Who do you think is responsible for most of the humiliation and bullying that Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris went through as high-schoolers? It wasn't the artists with their leftist ideas. No, I can assure you, having read their friend Brooks Brown's book "No Easy Answers", that it was the jocks who did it. I can assure you from personal experience that the "dumb jock" stereotype is all too often true.
Do the right thing. Call your representative and demand that art programs be cut from our public schools. The fragile minds of our greatest resource are at risk.
I'm off to draw some insulting pictures of Nixon and Reagan. Just for you.
