[On whether Jazz is Satanic]
Yes,the Bible does say to praise the Lord but it says in psalms and spiritual hymns. Jazz in niether one of those two. Jazz is evil and things pertaining to evil we should stay away from.

The Babble also says to "make a joyful noise." There's no more joyful a noise than jazz.
Some people run over others with their cars. That's evil. You should stay away from cars. Some people jump off bridges to commit suicide. That's evil. You shouldn't use bridges. In fact, some people view porn on their computers. That's got to be evil. Turn off your computer right away.
...and I'm sure she listens to Christian Rock, which has it's roots in rock, which has it's roots in R&B, which owes much to Jazz.
I wonder if she knows how much evil she's exposed herself to?
Jazz: more dangerous than war, poverty, disease, and violent crime put together.
Mull on that one for a second. You know there's somebody out there that believes it.
Seriously, I play a few instruments, and I wish I had the talent a lot of jazz musicians have. Especially if it pisses off a few tightasses.

All true. However, the Bible does NOT say...
Jazz is evil
I agree. Jazz is not holy at all. It is far too good music to be holy. (Not to mention it probably had deep roots in brothels and whatnot.)
Now, John Coltrane was a very spiritual person, as A Love Supreme shows. But spirituality is not necessarily "holy," praise all.
So yeah, no qualms about your assessment about it not being holy. Just your ridiculous idea that it is of a fantasy creature called Satan.

Thank you, central scrutinizer:
"This is the CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER . . . it is my responsibility to enforce all the laws that haven't been passed yet. It is also my responsibility to alert each and every one of you to the potential consequences of various ordinary everyday activities you might be performing which could eventually lead to The Death Penalty (or affect your parent's credit rating). Our criminal institutions are full of little creeps like you who do wrong things . . . and many of them were driven to these crimes by a horrible force called MUSIC!
Our studies have shown that this horrible force is so dangerous to society at large that laws are being drawn up at this very moment to stop it forever! Cruel and inhuman punishments are being carefully described in tiny paragraphs so they won't conflict with the Constitution (which, itself, is being modified in order to accomodate THE FUTURE).
I bring you now a special presentation to show what can happen to you if you choose a career in MUSIC . . . The WHITE ZONE is for loading and unloading only . . . if you have to load or unload, go to the WHITE ZONE . . . you'll love it . . . it's a way of life . . .
Hi, it's me, I'm back. This is the CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER . . . The WHITE ZONE is for loading and unloading only . . . if you gotta load or if you gotta unload, go to the WHITE ZONE . . . you'll love it . . . it's a way of life . . . that's right! You'll love it, it's a way of life, that's right, you'll love it, a way of life, right, love it . . . This is the CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER "

@ The Jamo: Sitting, praying, reading the Bible, going to Church, and waiting for the Raputre are all un-Satanic.
Dear Kirsten,
Jazz is what the work of Angels. Blues, on the other hand, is Satanic as it isn't happy and joyful.
I doubt that they had hymns in the day of , let's pick a nice one, king David. Do you know how he celebrated? He danced around with a tambourine in his hands, even his wife told him that he was making a fool of himself. Did he care? No he didn't. (or was this Solomon?)
So is jazz evil? No more than making fire anywhere between friday evening to saturday evening.
Well, so much for Duke Ellington and his Sacred Music, then.
Redhunter, you want to explain the Alyson Hannigan reference for us ignoramuses?
Every music nowadays then, is satanic. Your life is very pathetic, because, you know, you can´t live in a dessert with a tent any longer.
Yeah, you do that, stay away from all things evil. Like nakedness. The bibble says being naked is evil.
Say, Kirsten, did you know that inside our clothes we're all naked?
Flee! Flee from the evil nakedness!
@ Tiny Bulcher: It's based on a quote ("This one time at band camp") from American Pie. I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard the quote dozens of times.
Now, I'm no fan of jazz, but I don't see how this is more evil than the music I listen to (mix of 80s rock and some modern ones... plus some Marilyn Manson, Amon Amarth, etc.)
~Jerod T.
Jazz isn't satanic unless you count Smooth Jazz, which is clearly the work of the devil. Call Dizzy or Charlie Parker satanic and you'll have to answer to the bebop gods, though (and those boys can put a whoopin on you once they sober up).
(I kid of course)
Hey, guys, what do you mean, jazz isn't satanic? Have you guys ever tried to harmonize with that stuff? It's freakin' TOUGH!
~David D.G.
Psalms also says to praise the Lord with the lyre, the harp, the tamborine, and *gasp* holy friggin' cow...THE TRUMPET!!!
Owned!
@Papa Bear and Adrian:
And, uh, smokin's bad, you shouldn't smoke...mmkay. And um, drinkin's bad, y'shouldn't drink alcohol, mmkay.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
