(Talking about 9/11)
God was watching and acting, that is why only 3,000 people died. It could have being alot worst.

"...God... God... hey wake up, man..."
"...huh.... wha?"
"Hey God, man, we have a serious situation down below. There's a couple of planes that've been hijacked by some terrorists, and -"
"...shuddup... gimme ten more minutesss..."
----------
"God... hey, man, it's really serious now..."
"... I told you ten more minutes, goway..."
"That was 20 minutes ago. Look, we figured out that the terrorists are gonna fly right into the World Trade Center towers and blow them up..."
"... I SAID TEN MORE @&#*^&^ MINUTES!..."
---------
"Okay God, look, can you get up now ?"
"... huh? whaz goin' on..."
"Well, see, those planes did fly into the twin towers, and now they're burning up. And another one hit that ugly thing in DC. There's a lot of people dead, it's getting really bad... if you don't do something it's gonna get worse..."
"... aw cripes... who's at admissions today?"
"Peter and Jesus have the day off, remember? I think it's Thomas today."
"Oh hell, we can't have that many people in at once... the line'll back up into Alpha Centauri... fine, fine I'll do something... uh..."
"Hurry, man, I think the North one is gonna collapse..."
"Will you SHUDDUP and let me THINK? Jesus..."
Tell that to the families of people who died. Go ahead, I dare you. Don't. They dare perfectly well.
I was talking to a fundie who believed that God does no evil, and I pointed out natural disasters, using as an example one where a good friend of mine lost her mom.
He was not affect. Said right in my face that "I seemed to have lost faith somehow" and that "[natural disasters] are necessary for the End Times".
They don't care less about peoples' feelings when discussing these things.
So God can't stop the planes in midair, empty it, deposit the passengers in their houses and un-create the planes?
BUT, He can create the universe in 6 days, flood the entire Earth, make an old man build an ark to keep wolves alongside sheep for 40 days... and on and on and on.
Maybe he "created" the thermite charges that allowed for that nice clean vertical collapse of three buildings and caused all that slag so that they wouldn't fall over any which way despite having been designed to take aircraft hits, and all that fuel fireballing outside...
hey, weren't only two hit? damn he's good!
The Fundie answer to every natural disaster is that they all would have been worse without the intervention of their God? I thought they said he was omnipotent, but he can only reduce the death toll, not avoid the deaths entirely? And, even though he can only save some, he still kills huge numbers of believers and doesn't a huge number of non-believers.
As to 9/11 specifically, it could have been a lot better if your God was real and actually looking out for his "children."
<< To Old Viking: no, it can be put as 'a lot' or 'alot'. It's all based on your style. >>
Drakeal: Only if you don't mind using one style that's WRONG.
"A lot" = correct.
"Alot" = NOT correct.

Despite the horrible grammar here, I've gotta agree, at least partially.
As a resident of the area... less people were in that building that day than there had been in six years. My own father had a mysteriously lucky break. I'd LIKE to believe that's the working of some higher power.
-facepalm-
I have met several people that had relatives or friends who luckily were not in the WTC when they otherwise should/would have been. Many of these people attribute the lucky break to God.
Yet I've also met enough people who knew someone who didn't get a lucky break... and obviously, God didn't save those people from a terrible death. So you gotta ask "why not?"
Then why didn't your little bible god prevent the whole thing? Why didn't he prevent the Ha-Shoah? Why not prevent the slaughter of indigenous peoples by Europeans? Why didn't be prevent slavery? The list of offences goes on and on. Can you answer any one of these without resorting to the tired old expression, "We do not know god's will."?
It could have being alot worst.
But if 3,000 atheists had been killed, he'd have said "God was watching and acting, that is why over 3,000 people died. If they had been believers, "it could have being alot better".
How many people weren't there when they should have been, on ANY other day, say September 9th. I'd suspect that a lot of people who 'should' have been there at an arbitrary time on Sep. 9th weren't. People just don't notice this sort of thing unless it's a significant date.
Oh yeah...ONLY 3,000 died. Actually it was about 100 or so less then that. But yeah God is SOOO merciful to those who DID die, and their mourning families. How merciful and loving of him to watch them die.
The favorite fact of the world to a fundie is that it could always be worse. From there on, it's easy for them to say that the reason it wasn't worse was that God was watching.
Disgusting, if you ask me.
You'd think a fucking OMNIPOTENT being could have prevented the ENTIRE FUCKING THING!
So either he's NOT FUCKING OMNIPOTENT, or he's a FUCKING ASSHOLE!
Or maybe he just doesn't exist, which explains everything.
Seeing as God is supposed to be almighty, couldn't he have stopped it from happening in the first place?
Yeah, stupid argument is stupid.
How hard would it have been for an omnipotent God to cause a problem major enough to ground the planes but minor enough that no one was injured that morning? Wouldn't it have been more effective and humane for God to stop those planes from leaving their airports?
If he could but didn't, he's an ass.
If he couldn't, then he's not God.
Also, saying "only 3000 people died" makes YOU seem like an ass.
It could have being alot worst.
It could have been liverwurst.

Talking to an old girlfriend?
Yeah, Mary. Chatting the old girl up for another shag (the second coming). She's been holding out for the past 2,000 years, but she seems to be loosening up a bit lately. Maybe she'll throw the old tyrant a mercy fuck.
Confused?
