If homosexuality is a choice then wouldn't the "easy way out" be to simply choose to sleep with the opposite sex? If killing yourself is easier than that then maybe it isn't really a choice to begin with. And it especially makes sense in our current cultural context. Who the hell would CHOOSE to be a minority that is bullied, hated, and denied their rights? It boggles the mind how many hoops you'll jump through just so you don't have to admit that gays probably don't have a choice. But you have to, don't you? If you admit that they can be born that way then suddenly you're no better than the racists and your God is a dick.

Suicide is the easy way out... Easy? Seriously? If you have to try that hard and forcing yourself to be 'not-gay' is so excruciating that the alternative of suicide is preferable-- aka "easy"-- why on earth should people strive for it? If being straight is so simple and great and "natural" and super-fantastical-magicalness, it should be possible to not be one of them queers without all the suffering involved.
People like this are the lowest of the lowest scum. They prefer people to be dead than gay and then still damn them to hell. Being a homophobe is definitely a choice.
I have a confession everybody: I am a straight male. I never chose to be straight. I just am. And for a long time, I could never understand why any person would choose to be gay. Bear in mind, I was once a fundie growing up in a small town, so there wouldn't be much incentive to be gay, if you catch my drift.
Now, I have no doubt that someday, same sex attraction could be "cured". As our knowledge of the brain increases, I'm sure we could rewire a few neurons here, replace some chemicals there, and boom, instant heterosexuality. Of course, that sort of "cure" would shoot the whole "choice" thing in the foot.
Valcuoria, if you tried hard enough, could you stop being heterosexual? Not just managing to engage in same sex relations, but actively being attraced to same sex partners and desiring same sex relations to the exclusion of any heterosexual relations?
You can no less stop being attracted to the opposite than they to the same. They can no less start being attracted to the opposite sex as you could the same.
You know nothing else, so you argue from ignorance. It's like saying someone with Prader-Willi syndrome just isn't trying hard enough to control hunger pangs or someone with a phobia is just being a wuss.

You're not trying hard enough; I'm sure with proper support you would be successful in the endeavor to do away with that choice, but as you've said, your close kin have embraced the wrong choice made rather than help change it.

You are right, they took the easy way out. When they kill themselves they are doing the most selfish, desperate and horrible thing a human can possibly do. And it is a terrible, terrible tragedy.
And here is the thing Valcouria, they do it because it is easier than believing that one day people like you will stop being like people like you.

If it's that easy to stop being gay, it must be just as easy to start. So do it. Become attracted to someone of the same gender as you. Don't give me any bullshit about it's wrong, if it makes the point, millions will turn away from homosexuality, right?
