A nun in Germany has recently done a presentation in a conference of an independent investigation she conducted of the treatment of Christians in Syria under the hands of Muslim fundamentalists. She revealed that Muslims are butchering Christians, draining their blood in bottles, and selling each bottle for $100,000 to Muslims in Saudi Arabia who take it to wash their hands in Christian blood, with the belief that it atones for their sins.

Apparently Christians crave persecution so hard they'll believe anything. Well, that, and because they're prejudice, idiotic, bigots. Should've said they also cut off the feet and turn them into $200,000 key chains.

Playing devil's advocate, you can't expect the blood-libel's hypothetical fundies to know or care about medical hygiene.
I was trying to locate our German nun person and look what I came up with under blood libel:
"a false allegation of murder; the term refers specifically to a recurring rumor from 12th century Europe that Jews were kidnapping Christian children and using their blood for ritual purposes. So it's all a nun thing.
Anyway, the nun's name is Hatune Dogan, a Syran Orthodox Christian from Turkey. She accuses the Syrian rebels of doing this blood thing in the World Net Daily, and it grew from there.
The story has been branded by all and sundry as absolute bullshit.

Hatune Dogan and the organizations she belongs to have actually done a lot of good in the world, including help for AIDS orphans in Africa, drilling wells in India, etc. If she's gone 'round the bend, it's sad.

According to Forbes Magazine, a pint of blood in Wisconsin (81% Christian) costs $240. Seems rather hard to see where the $99,760 mark-up on Christian blood would come. And where is any sort of evidence for this blood libel fantasy?

The blood libel wasn't true when the Catholics tried to use it against my people 600 years ago in the middle ages and it's not true now against the Muslims. Get some new material, you losers.
Also, does anyone else find it ironically funny that the people who accuse Jews and now Muslims, I guess, of drinking blood, themselves symbolically drink blood as a part of their rituals?

In all honesty, considering some of the bizarre things the Taliban did and do in Afghanistan and some of the things the Al-Qaeda people do, I wouldn't necessarily put this beyond them, at least perhaps in a few very isolated incidents. At the moment Syria is a minefield of chaos and anarchy. Lots of very old debts and bills are being paid. Really anything is possible there just now.

... so... how, exactly, are they keeping it from coagulating? Because blood, like, does that when exposed to the air (by exiting the human body and getting poured into a bottle, for instance.)

Come on, man! If you're going to invent a persecution story, you have to think it through! My alternative's just as horrific but much more physically possible, though I suppose it does ruin the whole "why are there no witnesses to any of this ever" thing.

Why do these "German nuns" never have a name? It's always someone, somewhere, said something. I'm guessing she's reported (er, manufactured) as German because the traditional location of these urban myths, the USSR, is no more.
