Britain is indeed a lovely country with a rich history.
In the beginning were the Celts.
Since then we've been invaded by Romans, Angles, Saxons, Vikings and Normans.
The monarchy - and I'll bet you support them - has been Norman-French (Plantagenet), Welsh (Tudor), Scottish (Stuart), Dutch (Orange) and German (Hanover).
We shipped slaves to the Carribbean in the 18th century and begged their descendants to return in the 20th because we wanted cheap labour.
We've given refuge to Jews, Huguenots, and Asians fleeing that great humanitarian, Idi Amin.
We grabbed a large chunk of the world when we could, and shared our mongrel genes in a hundred different countries. Some of those people have come back to us.
Carry on despairing, Fisherman. Make yourself even more miserable. Some of us intend to enjoy the amazing - sometimes confusing, but always fascinating - mixture of cultures, attitudes, tastes, religions and skin colour that is Britain today.
There is no such animal as a pure-bred Briton. Hasn't been for a couple of thousand years or more.
We are all foreigners here, thank God.
