The things in this letter are true. What on earth is happening to this once great nation? Britain is a lovely country with a rich history and wonderful landscapes. I despair when I walk down the street and feel like a stranger due the number of foreigners.

Britain is indeed a lovely country with a rich history.

In the beginning were the Celts.

Since then we've been invaded by Romans, Angles, Saxons, Vikings and Normans.

The monarchy - and I'll bet you support them - has been Norman-French (Plantagenet), Welsh (Tudor), Scottish (Stuart), Dutch (Orange) and German (Hanover).

We shipped slaves to the Carribbean in the 18th century and begged their descendants to return in the 20th because we wanted cheap labour.

We've given refuge to Jews, Huguenots, and Asians fleeing that great humanitarian, Idi Amin.

We grabbed a large chunk of the world when we could, and shared our mongrel genes in a hundred different countries. Some of those people have come back to us.

Carry on despairing, Fisherman. Make yourself even more miserable. Some of us intend to enjoy the amazing - sometimes confusing, but always fascinating - mixture of cultures, attitudes, tastes, religions and skin colour that is Britain today.

There is no such animal as a pure-bred Briton. Hasn't been for a couple of thousand years or more.

We are all foreigners here, thank God.

'Foreigners' was Fisherman's word. I was being ironic. How does 'human beings' suit you?

Since white Western nations are clearly more civilised, intelligent and advanced than the rest of the world, their unique attitude towards equality - 'we are all foreigners' - must have more validity than anything those benighted black, brown and yellow heathens could ever dream up, yes?

People have always gone in search of a better life. Invaders dream of property and wealth. Oppressed people hope for food in their bellies and a chance to raise their families in peace. The vast majority simply go where the money is. How many Westerners work in Dubai, for example?

The West has been economically pre-eminent for a long time, but the world changes. Live with it. In thirty years, who knows? Thousands of poor, homeless Americans massing on the Chinese border, looking for work in Beijing?

There's a difference between "a nation" and "a hotel for the world". Britain is only one of them.

Hasher: "once-great nation", "Feel like a stranger", typical bigot cliches, try to come up with some more original thoughts and/or learn to move with the times.

We're all human. We all bleed red. Diversity is a strength. Embrace diversity. We're all foreigners.

I'm being original.

Jay-Sus: My God! How dare the Britsh government allow everyone to have a home regardless or race. They should be ashamed.

The British government isn't allowing BRITONS to have home. As you can see, a great deal of them don't feel like home. On the other hand, most of the immigrants have their respective nation states.
