Recently a pastor told about an airplane ride he took. As the plane was loading he took his seat next to the window. He looked over his shoulder to see a suspicious Mideastern man take a seat about two rows behind him. Just then an American man took the seat next to my pastor friend. The pastor said, “Excuse me. But I might need to get ou...” “Don’t worry, Buddy. I’ve got’im. If he makes a moves he’s one dead A-rab.” No, he wasn’t a Sky Marshal. He was an average American!
When people are attacked they go through three stages of emotions: shock, grief, then rage. After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, America was shocked. Then we grieved as a nation. Then Admiral Bull Halsey best defined our national rage when he said, “When this war is over, the Japanese language will be spoken only in Hell.” (Imagine if someone said that about Muslims today!)

If that's what the "average American" does on a plane, I'm glad I'm in Australia. I'd personally be terrified of the one threatening to kill the "suspicious Mideastern man". With what? His bare hands, or the concealed 9mm he managed to get past security? And what exactly constitutes making "a move"? Pressing the button to summon the flight attendant? Going to the bathroom? Perhaps reaching into his pocket for a notepad? Sheesh. Sam Gipp at his best yet again.
Yeah. These days I'm believing more and more that racist dolts are making up the majority. Of course, their led by a fuckwit cowboy, what else can I expect?
Yah, gipper, Japan and it's language are such and abomination today, aren't they? Fucking idiot.
I somehow doubt the truth of the story. The source is... well, less than credible to begin with.
And Gipp apparently missed the past 60 years of history, in which not only is Japanese still spoken, but is frequently studied here in America. He clearly doesn't remember that phase in the eighties when everyone in the business world believed that Japanese was going to be the international language of business.
It's all well and good talking about heroics, but how many people are actually going to stand up and beat the living daylights out of an innocent man simply because he's a little darker than them? Face it, most "patriots" would prefer to talk big and let someone else kill and mame; Americans appear very adept at parting wrongdoers from both their liberty and their money.
Sorry bub, but someone who slashes a flight attendant with a box cutter is hardly what the rest of us would call an "innocent man".
False accusations aside, how many of these tough talking, right wing leaning, Bible thumping nutjobs actually have the balls to do anything?
Anyone who'd brag about attacking a stranger is nothing but a bully, and we all know bullies are cowards at heart Faced with a real terrorist, he'll cry his little eyes out to Jesus and tell them Ay-rabs to take his Godly wife and his three angelic children if it'll save him from being blown out of the sky. Heroism is 80% ignorance, 10% luck and 10% mini bottles of liquor stolen from the front of the plane when the FAs weren't looking.
The idea (held by some wuss disciples of the Atheist Faith) that personal defense is "best left to the professionals"
Oh, right, we're all SO much safer with paranoid, delusional, racist nutcases taking matters into their own hands and shooting anyone who "looks funny."
You will notice that Halsey's prophecy did not, in fact, come true, and thankfully smarter heards prevailed in policy decisions and rather than engaging in shameful genocide, we instead deliberately transformed Japan into one of our staunchest allies in the Asian world.
And how can you possibly accuse the people here at FSTDT of being "judgmental" towards other people when you have essentially taken the position that all Musims are violent sociopathic terrorists who just want to ride planes so they can slice up the flight attendents. Ever think that maybe they just want to, oh, I dunno, get somewhere too far to drive?
Your posts are truly amusing, please continue to make them, as we lost our last decent troll a few months back. Not that you are even in the top 10 yet. If you want to make the Hall of Fame, here are a few tips:
1. Ditch the kiddie language. It just makes you look foolish and prevents anyone from taking you seriously.
2. Research your points and cite the references. Dropping unsupported and off-handed claims weakens your position.
3. Be consistant. Don't switch tacks simply to get a "rise" out of someone. It weakens your arguments.
4. Avoid hypocracy. The FSTDT community reacts to that like sharks to blood and will swarm on you and your points will be lost in the ensuing churn.
5. Avoid flames. No one will take you sreiously if you are engaging in wanton ad hominem attacks. Keep your focus on the ideas and the posts, not the posters.
Of course I don't expect you to listen, you're a troll. But the fact that you will ridicule this post and refuse to listen is just evidence that you are a troll.
Happy Trolling!
Well, if the muslims do, they´re a bunch of savages, double standards?. Think twice. You say that all muslims are terrorist and you call us judgamental just because we don´t find this guy reasonable?.
"...Admiral Bull Halsey best defined our national rage when he said, 'When this war is over, the Japanese language will be spoken only in Hell.'"
Hmm. Does that mean hell is a string of islands off the Chinese coast? I understand they still speak Japanese there.
Al, I belief in SELF-DEFENSE. Self-defense is defending yourself against an unwarranted attack on you. The "Ay-rab" in this story could have been a simple businessman going about his business. I own weapons and train in there use, but I do not glorify any skill of it. It's a skill that I hope I never use and merely was just an insurance measure, not something needed. You're a piss-poor troll, give it up or else just tell us if you are seriously that deranged or just desperate for attention?
To all the other foreigners on this site, most Americans aren't this stupid or psychotic. Honestly! I know it seems like a lot are but they just get the most attention on the news because that sensationalism sells. Though this makes me lose a little faith in humanity. So much hate, man, so much hate.
MK, Al fails to also realize there are more Muslims residing in India than all of the Middle Eastern countries combined. That and Indonesia has the highest muslim population per capita. It's funny how most people just assume ALL Arab or Persian people HAVE to be Muslim.
Dude, seriously, what the flying fuck? I'm more frightened that some "average American" is ready to slit a guy's throat because of his race, than I am that terrorists will hijack a plane.
BTW, you didn't see your own birth, either.
Wow. That should be in the hall of fame of witty comebacks. Only in your mind does an exchange between twitchy white-folks turn into a muslim boxcutter attack. Hey al, give me a hit of that, I want to not know what I'm talking about either!
It increasingly seems as if some angry Americans just want an excuse to go kill people. Or at least to send our soldiers to go kill people, because Samuel Gipp wouldn't be in fatigues and toting a rifle, would he? He'd sure preach it, though.
And remind me again, doesn't the Bible say something about "Thou shalt not kill"? Unless there's a revisionist version out there I'm not aware of that says "Thou shalt not kill, except for Muslims, kill them all you want," then I'd guess that Christians shouldn't be quite so hot to "get" ANYBODY.
A few bad apples don't constitute the quality of the whole. What's been done to villify people of Middle Eastern descent is just disgusting and wrong. It makes me ashamed.
There have been plenty of American terrorists. There will be many more, unfortunately. Terrorism is not linked to people of one nationality, race or religion.
Shock, grief, and rage accurately describes how I feel about people like this man.
Excellent comment, Current.
First, I don't believe this story. Gipp is not exactly a reliable source. Second, talk is cheap. People who talk tough are usually cowards putting up a brave front. Third, that Halsey quote is ridiculous since the U.S. helped rebuild Japan after WWII, and Japan has been an American ally ever since. Would that we could have such a happy outcome in Iraq.
The sad part is, the airline'd STILL be more likely to throw the Arab off than the tough-talking prick. Can't have the white travelers feel threatened, now can we, even if they know nothing about behavioral profiling or terrorism prevention and think someone's suspicious just for being a few shaders darker.
I am an Atheist and due to my training with the US Army Rangers I am a professional. It just so happens that I will defend the American people (and non americans) from terrorists or criminals regardless of what color they are.
Honestly, I don't see your ilk as being any different than the muslim extremists I fought in two seperate nations.
Rangers Lead the Way
First of all, not all Arabs are Muslims, not all Muslims are Arabs, and not all Muslims are terrorists. Second of all, the last suicide bombing on American soil was done by a white, non-Muslim guy who was obsessed with explosives.
So, a Middle Eastern looking man, who, frankly, could be as American as you are, minding his own business is someone worthy of suspicion. A trigger happy schmuck confides to you that if he so much as looks up abruptly, he'd be willing to attack him puts you at ease. Gotcha.
Yes, nothing says "most civilised nation on earth" quite like paranoid, xenophobic, genocidal vigilantism.
Reminds me more of the death scene in the last Python movie
"Americans, all you ever do is talk talk talk with "lemme tell you this or lemme tell ya that" well you can just shut the hell up,,,"
If shit went down in that plane that would be the last guy to help.
So, you apparently don't know a damn thing about the Pacific War, and you also ignorantly believe that that airplane tough guy wouldn't be thrown of the plane by the air marshal the moment he tried anything. Please do not tide a plane or talk about history ever again.
Confused?
