Recently a pastor told about an airplane ride he took. As the plane was loading he took his seat next to the window. He looked over his shoulder to see a suspicious Mideastern man take a seat about two rows behind him. Just then an American man took the seat next to my pastor friend. The pastor said, “Excuse me. But I might need to get ou...” “Don’t worry, Buddy. I’ve got’im. If he makes a moves he’s one dead A-rab.” No, he wasn’t a Sky Marshal. He was an average American!
When people are attacked they go through three stages of emotions: shock, grief, then rage. After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, America was shocked. Then we grieved as a nation. If that's what the "average American" does on a plane, I'm glad I'm in Australia. I'd personally be terrified of the one threatening to kill the "suspicious Mideastern man". With what? His bare hands, or the concealed 9mm he managed to get past security? And what exactly constitutes making "a move"? Pressing the button to summon the flight attendant? Going to the bathroom? Perhaps reaching into his pocket for a notepad? Sheesh. Sam Gipp at his best yet again.

It's all well and good talking about heroics, but how many people are actually going to stand up and beat the living daylights out of an innocent man simply because he's a little darker than them? Face it, most "patriots" would prefer to talk big and let someone else kill and mame; Americans appear very adept at parting wrongdoers from both their liberty and their money.
You will notice that Halsey's prophecy did not, in fact, come true, and thankfully smarter heards prevailed in policy decisions and rather than engaging in shameful genocide, we instead deliberately transformed Japan into one of our staunchest allies in the Asian world.

Al, I belief in SELF-DEFENSE. Self-defense is defending yourself against an unwarranted attack on you. The "Ay-rab" in this story could have been a simple businessman going about his business. I own weapons and train in there use, but I do not glorify any skill of it. It's a skill that I hope I never use and merely was just an insurance measure, not something needed. The sad part is, the airline'd STILL be more likely to throw the Arab off than the tough-talking prick. Can't have the white travelers feel threatened, now can we, even if they know nothing about behavioral profiling or terrorism prevention and think someone's suspicious just for being a few shaders darker.
I am an Atheist and due to my training with the US Army Rangers I am a professional. It just so happens that I will defend the American people (and non americans) from terrorists or criminals regardless of what color they are.

First of all, not all Arabs are Muslims, not all Muslims are Arabs, and not all Muslims are terrorists. Second of all, the last suicide bombing on American soil was done by a white, non-Muslim guy who was obsessed with explosives.
