There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the residents of New Orleans brought the wrath of God upon themselves.
Jesus Christ HATES sin. Why can the liberals not understand this? Is it any wonder God punished that city with a mighty wind in light of their festival celebrating that which is an abomination to God? They should be on their knees repenting, begging God for mercy, instead of trying to blame mortal men for their failings in their rescue effort.
Remember that Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt when she looked back upon Sodom and Gomorrah. No wonder President Bush has been reluctant to meddle in the affairs of his own City of Sin, after Almighty God has destroyed it.
The bad news is... there is much worse to come in these end days.

Maybe because this Jesus character does not exist?

These end days? Are they different from previous end days? I'm sure these ones will end the same way as the previous ones, with nothing happening!

Two words: Las Vegas.
Where's god's wrath there? Hell, the city is nicknamed Sin City.

He was reluctant because the fucking imbecile probably thought New Orleans was just one town over from Orleans France.
Face it, the guy is about as sharp as a marble.

Yes, yes. Just like always. Ho hum.
Am I the only person that saw this guy's username and immediately thought of breakfast at Denny's?
@Thejebusfire, I agree totaly, is it possible that perhaps the fundies are missing the message their god seems to be sending?

Jesus Christ has bad aim. Why can conservatives not understand this? The churches in New Orleans were destroyed, but the gay bars and parade route were undamaged. When god unleashes his wrath the safest place to be is where he's aiming.
At least nine churches of Bible-believing Baptists were destroyed. The area where the gay parades were was virtually untouched. What is it people don't understand? That God thinks holier-than-thou Baptists preaching the Bible are full of crap? Why is it when something bad happens to people fundies hate, it's always God's judgment, but when it happens to fundies, they ignore it or claim God is "testing" them? Talk about a self-fulfilling delusion.
New Orleans wasn't involved in anything that you can't find in New York, Chicago, Austin, Dallas, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona, Rome, Istanbul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Sydney, Rio, or any other city or town in the "western(ized)" world. From personal experience I can also attest that if you look closely you'll find some of the same behavior in small, supposedly "Real American" towns as well. But, by all means, keep your rose-tinted glasses on and keep pulling nonsense out of your ass. I need a laugh now and then. NEXT!....
Wow, a hurricane hitting the Gulf Coast? No fucking way, it HAS to be the hand of god at work. Let a powerful hurricane hit Chicago or Detroit and maybe we'll talk. Jesus Christ HATES sin, huh? Unless it's perpetrated by his followers, then it's ok. But he also hates love, peace, tolerance, acceptance, kindness, and mercy. So this is what I hear when I read this trash "blah, blah, blah, god, god, god, jesus, jesus, jesus, god is an asshole, jesus is a cunt, blah, blah, blah." I think that about sums it up. And of course, no christian post about death and destruction is complete without a reference to the end times. Priceless.
"Then why did God trash all those God-fearing communities all over the Gulf Coast. Is He sloppy?"
This is the same guy they say drowned the entire world to kill off a few thousand people, remember. In other words, yes.
Is it any wonder God punished that city with a mighty wind in light of their festival celebrating that which is an abomination to God?
You mean eating crawfish?
And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which [is] in the waters, they [shall be] an abomination unto you: - Lev. 11:10)
This kind of posting leaves absolutely no doubt in my mind that fundies have created god in their own hateful image.
What warped and hateful people they are! Their god is just an excuse for them to be vocal in their hatefulness.
Interesting.
Sydney has a gay Mardi Gras weekend every year, culminating in a huge televised parade, and I do not recall Sydney ever being hit by a hurricane. Perhaps God only hates American gays. Australian gays must be in His good book.
Norm
But what about when jehovah the benevolent sky fairy destroys large numbers of christians? Does this mean he's pissed at them? Oh wait, no, that just means he's testing their faith. God couldn't never punish his followers for NOT following them, right? Like all those churches that were destroyed in New Orleans, that was just a test from god, to prove their faith.
Pillar of salt indeed. What happened to good ol' clear-cut miracles? When did God simply become a series of weather patterns?
Also, we totally saw Katrina coming. We have computers that spend every hours looking at weather patterns.
What part of your new, lamer God is supernatural?
Strange how God never brings hurricanes and the likes to such dens of iniquity as the Netherlands. He seems to reserve it for areas that are both:
A) highly Christian
B) areas that are naturally prone to such events
Explain Galveston then. What horrific sin were they committing to get their town flooded? Or Houston?
...well, okay, Houston is kind of nasty. Maybe God just wanted to level the refineries and put in a nice beach condo or something.
Jesus Christ HATES sin.
If I recall correctly, Jesus stopped a mob from stoning an adulteress. He then proceded to chastise those gathered and ended with that brilliant statement, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." This demonstrates that even though he may have preached a moral lifestyle, he wasn't above forgiving people their mistakes.
If god hates sin, why hasn't he brought down a fireball on all of those preachers and pastor caught with hookers, or their hands in the till, or both.
New Orleans was great, I'll bet you've never left your town have you.
Jesus Christ wanted you to help the poor and cure the sick, to treat homeless people like you would treat Jesus. Why can the Conservatives not understand this?
What were they celebrating, that was so sinful? Eating shellfish? Growing the wrong crop in the wrong field? Wearing clothes of mixed fabrics? Working on the Sabbath?
Why was Lot's wife turned into a pillar of salt? What was her name, btw; why is she only "Lot's wife"? What was soo bad with being homesick and turning your head? Her daughters got their father drunk and "date-raped" him, just after he'd lost his wife; that's worse in my book...
Isn't it strange that it's only the cities of sin in hurricane corridors and on earthquake faults that have God's wrath brought down upon them? Up here in the stable northern Europe, we have no hurricanes nor earthquakes, nor volcanoes...
Confused?
