These abortion supporters are doing the same thing, threatening to kill themselves if they don't get what they want. The only person they would be hurting by committing suicide would be themselves. The only way this argument could sway me at all was if I had mercy and didn't want them to suffer.
Actually, the matter is, these women will get abortions one way or the other. Be it through a dangerous, back alley abortion, or one where the mother can live to reproduce again. Not to say that a woman who got raped, or had some sweet talker charm his way into her pants with promises of forever gets knocked up, finds herself without any manner of support, and told "Well you should have thought of this before you got fornicated, you filthy harlot," wouldn't consider suicide, either. But that's her fault, and not the puritans, who, when confronted with a suffering that isn't easy to solve, clean and pretty, will shut out the person who is suffering faster than a politician jumping on ten-spot. No, no, it's the filthy sinner's weakness.
What's the difference between these women and my 2-year-old? These women are killing babies.
No, they are killing fetuses. A cluster of cells with no self-awareness whatsoever. Does it make it pretty, or nice? No. Does it make it an easy decision? Of course not. Is it sometimes necessary, or even a good thing? Sadly, yes, it is. I would love to live in a world where no child ever had to be aborted. I'm sure pretty much any Pro-Choicer would echo that sentiment. However, as it stands, sometimes it truly is the lesser of two evils.
It's easy to have mercy on an immature child having a temper tantrum. A little harder to feel sorry for an adult taking advantage of a helpless baby.
It is when the baby is threatening the well-being of the woman it's inhabiting. Should the mother and child live in poverty and misery to appease your morality? Will you be so proud of yourself when they're both living on the streets because mama just don't make enough to afford both shelter AND food for them? What about the woman who has a fifty fifty shot of not even surviving the pregnancy? The woman who will be forced to drop out of high school just because a condom broke? The baby may not intend any ill to it's mother, but it very well can bring it.
If they get what they want, they will kill babies. If they don't get what they want, they will still kill babies..and themselves as well.
And as such, you value the woman so little that you'd see her dead. The issue is not black and white. It's not killing babies to slake some bloodlust. It's a decision of whether a child would truly benefit from the situation it's presented. Perhaps not always thought of as such, but it is what it boils down to.
