*Regarding the film "The Life of Brian"
This films dishonors the bible. To learn more about Brian's relevance to the Son of God, study all the gospels, not just Mark. Also, Michael Palin dishonors the Son of God every day because he is a compulsive alcoholic.

Eric, you're not the messiah, you're a very naughty boy.
@WMDKitty:
My dad and I listen to that song every day. Right now, actually.
@Botulism!:
It is a sign! We must take off one shoe and hold it up, and leave the other one upon our foot!
Ugh, this asshole lives in my home state.
And if he can't learn to fucking laugh at himself and stop taking everything in the world so damn seriously, screw him.
Wet Walnuts: Yeah, same here.
This guy is definitely some kind of fruit cake. Anyone who disagrees with him is apparently some guy named David R. Herschel.
"My God, David. I'm afraid of the fact that Michael Palin worked several times with those Saturday Night Live regulars who used drugs. I'm afraid if I talk positively about this movie with my larynx at a party, someone will dose me with a hallucinogenic narcotic. My God, David, where are you leading me? You are David Herschel, a jerk who has annoyed me in various show business blogs since 1996."
I really hope he's a Poe.
I thought Graham Chapman was the alcoholic of the bunch?
You know, the gay man who played the occasionally naked, fornicating, F-word-using Jesus-like character?
wow ! Not just an alcoholic, but a Compulsive alcoholic...
Thats proper drinking.
I think it's you that needs to lay off the sauce Ericj
And Brian saideth upon the cross. Thouh shalt always look on the bright side of life.
Anyway that film isn't making fun of your religion it's making fun of it's more fanatical followers, like you for example. And the scene where Brian holds the "You don't need to follow me" speach is the greatest example of fundie in a nutshell ever.
Give strong drink to him that is ready to perish, and wine to those that be of heavy hearts. (Proverbs 31:6)
Let him drink and forget his poverty And remember his trouble no more. (Proverbs 31:7)
Sounds like God isn´t opposed to alcoholism :D
Hmm, you are obviously such an idiot that *you* definitly won't be able to tick Michael Palin off, how ever hard you may try.
It takes having him crawling in and eating mud for numerous takes ... a feat only Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones were able to pull off .... ever.
Damn we all know Michael Palin even stays his ever friendly self when harrassed by an American fan while he's desperatly trying to catch his train.
"Ow ... I'm such a big fan!!!!!!"
I bet if he ever would read this, the only thing would happen was, that he would smile benevolently, thinking to himself ... "my, my, ... what an odd person"
@Darn:
Remember, he just threw a small tantrum over being forced to eat mud/chocolate/possible pigshit over and over again.
He got pissed when he saw the movie the first time...and that shot wasn't even used. :D
"Also, Michael Palin dishonors the Son of God every day because he is a compulsive alcoholic."
I find this incredibly funny. Who was it again that went around turning water into wine?
Sounds like just the kind of guy that would get along great with Palin.
Some things in life are bad,
they can really make you mad,
other things just make you swear & curse
When you're chewin on life's gristle
don't grumble- give a whistle!
And this'll help things turn out for the best!

The bible dishonoured Monty Python's Flying* Circus, and I suspect it did so on purpose.
Yes, its chief protagonist even has the same initials as the Blessed John Cleese!
I go to Morristown NJ every day for work, and live close by in Parsippany. I should track this guy down, show up at his house with a "David Herschel" nametag on and scream "I found you, you're mine now fundie!"
Seriously, I really think he's a poe after reading the rest of his IMDB comments.
Oh, and after reading that thread, I can say that here we're all David Herschel.
Just like in death we are all Robert Paulson.
It's just amazing how many people think that Brian is supposed to be Jesus, considering that Jesus actually appears in the film at one point as a completely separate character - and during Jesus' appearance in the film, the Pythons don't touch him. Not one joke. The Life of Brian is a film targetted squarely at deriding lunatic religious zealots, not their gods.
While the link to my blog is authentic the person using my name is a first-class liar by the name of David Henschel who has a long track record of using the names of people he's had run-ins with in the past on other message boards. I have never made any such comments about "Life Of Brian" even though it is a film I have no intention of ever seeing on general principle.
Just in the interests of setting the record straight, though I know it's probably futile.
Yeah, Michael Palin is such an alcoholic. Consider episode 5 in his 'Around the World in 80 Days' series, when he is faced with two bottles of complimentary Champagne in Hong Kong: The first one he opens (and presumably shares with his cameraman); the second one he looks at and says, "I think I'll just have an orange juice."
What a lush!
This film makes people remember what is actually said in the Bible. That can't be wrong, right?
Where in the Bible does it say You should not drink alcohol? People used alcohol as a germ killer at that time; it was GOOD.
“*Regarding the film "The Life of Brian"
This films dishonors the bible.”
Not really. The place where Jesus gives the sermon on the mount, he’s treated respectfully and quoted accurately, at least by bible reports.
“To learn more about Brian's relevance to the Son of God, study all the gospels, not just Mark.”
Like six minutes into the movie we find out that Brian is NOT the Son of God,when the Magi take all their gifts back for the manger just a little bit down the street.
The power of Life of Brian is not attacking the Bible or Jesus, but attacking crazy people making shit up about the objects of their worship.
“Also, Michael Palin dishonors the Son of God every day because he is a compulsive alcoholic.”
Who won’t drink alcohol before a performance… Yeah, you’re completely accurate on that charge.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no.
