I'd like to know what the Bible says about being a female because if more women knew I don't think they would be getting 61% of the masters degrees and getting invitro fertilization procedures. This world is insane.

What the bible has to say about women?
If I remember correctly the usual things about her having to obey her husband and it being O.K. to rape them, if they belong to a conquered tribe (well, it doesn´t specifically say this, but there are several instances in the old testimony where god ordered the israelites to wage war against other tribes and, after victory, ahve their soldiers rape the women of the other tribe)
"if more women knew I don't think they would be getting 61% of the masters degrees and getting invitro fertilization procedures."
Of course, they would be illiterate and pregnant.
Because, you know, once you get a masters degree, you become sterile, or what are you exactly trying to say?
Right, this is a crime against grammar and the English language but I think I've sorted it.
Translated jsmythe:
"I would like to know what the Bible says about being female and getting an education. If more women knew that God wants them barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, then they wouldn't be out there achieving and denying boorish losers like me our right to a Stepford wife."
If more women knew what the Bible says about being a female there might be fewer Christian women. That was a large part of what made me decide I no longer wanted anything to do with Christianity.
Edit: Damn, I should read more comments before I post.
What disturbs me in a big way is that evidently s/he doesn't already know what the Bible says... but has already decided that it means no higher education and no fertility treatments.
This is the problem, IMO, not the actual text of the Bible. It's that folks have already decided what it *should* mean, and are just looking for the verses to back it up.
"I'd like to know what the Bible says about being a female because if more women knew I don't think they would be getting 61% of the masters degrees and getting invitro fertilization procedures."
It says, essentially, that it's a bad, bad thing and you should be grateful to all the men around you that they don't beat, rape or stone you to death simply for your gender. Apparently your deity finds you to be a vile disgusting creature who is "unclean" during your period (which he set up, of course) and "unclean" after giving birth (you're "unclean" longer if you give birth to a girl, of course, 'cause ya'll is just so much more icky than boys I guess) and you're not to even think about trying to tell a man how to do something.
Be a good little woman now and keep your mouth shut (so as not to accidentally teach a male something), stay ignorant (women don't need them thar book smarts), and keep squeezing out the little ones. Oh, and don't touch anything or sit anywhere a man might happen to touch or sit while you're "unclean" either.
And be sure to thank your god for all the wonder's he's bestowed upon you, you ungrateful heathen.
"This world is insane."
Your little corner of the internet surely is.
I don't know what those women you allude to read, but my guess is, it's not the bible.
The world is more sane without the bible. (grim, but sane) Try it sometime.
Poor mr. jsmythe is upset that he can't find a woman that will work her fingers to the bone while he becomes a professional student.
Something about educated women only want to marry educated men. Damn feminists.
OH MY GOD the insanity of women getting degrees!!! Surely the work of the devil.
Oh and if you wanna know what the bible says then read the fucking thing. It will most likely destroy your puny faith if you do, though, which is probably why you'd rather just have someone else read and interpret it for you.
I'm female and couldn't care less what the Bible says about me, given that it was written thousands of years ago.
I'll bet you-- go on, I'll BET-- that there is nothing in there about Masters degrees or IVF. Go on, find me one single passage.
For the first thing, you can´t fight. It´s how God made us. Second, didn´t you remember that time where Rahab, Zilpa and the other handmaids bore children for their husbands?. That´s what happens when you pick and choose.
Antichrist: "Poor mr. jsmythe is upset that he can't find a woman that will work her fingers to the bone while he becomes a professional student."
If that's the case, he hasn't thought his cunning plan all the way through. If women are barred from higher education, they can only get poorly paid McJobs that certainly won't allow his majesty to live in the style to which I'm sure he's accustomed. And since he seems to be too good to work himself, I foresee a lifetime of poverty if this "plan" is followed.
But what do I know, I'm one of those worthless females who doesn't deserve an education. Jackass.
If you don't know what the Bible says about being female, how can you tell what the consequences would be if women knew it? If you really want to know what the Bible says, the best way is to read it, stupid.
Most people who get masters degrees are probably a bit agnostic and don't really care what the Bible says, any more than they care what the Poetic Edda says.
The world of religious fundies is indeed insane.
“I'd like to know what the Bible says about being a female”
I’d start with the Flood. We know the names of all four MEN on Noah’s ark, but none of the four WOMEN who helped reestablish mankind on the face of the Earth, making the women just accessories to Man’s efforts.
“because if more women knew I don't think they would be getting 61% of the masters degrees”
I don’t really see how that is their problem. SHouldn’t you be mad at the university for letting women in the program? When they should be letting less and less qualified men get the degrees? I mean, I assume that’s why you care? You couldn’t get on the bus because women had 61% of the seats?
“and getting invitro fertilization procedures.”
Your girlfriend makes you use a condom, huh? Said if she EVER wanted to get pregnant, she’d just use mail-order…?
“This world is insane.”
But sane enough to NOT live by your standards.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
