No, it's that misogynistic attitude and social inertia that have kept the U.S. from letting many women get into positions of power, and none into our highest political office. But we've made progress; give us another couple of generations, and I'll bet we will see a few female presidents.

On New Zealand:
Up until last year ALL the top political positions in the country were held by Women
The Soveregin- Queen Elizabeth II,
The Prime Minister- Helen Clark,
The Govenor General- Dame Sylvia Cartwright,
and our head judge were ALL female.
And for a country of 4 million people we're doing pretty well.

(ok, personally I prefer Kåre Willoch)
Margeret Thatcher would like to have a word with you.
Granted she was a prime minister but she pretty much ran the country.
Did you forget about menopause? most woman running for a position of power in the country are probably over 50.
Boudicca, two Queen Elizabeths, Queen Victoria and Margaret Thatcher would like a word. That's five female leaders without even going outside my own country. There have been plenty in other parts of the world.
America hasn't had a female president yet, so that part's correct at least.
Kim Campbell was Canada's Prime Minister for a time, though.
oh? and men dont go through "mood swings" or their own versions of "periods" without ovulating, menstruating, bleeding/cramping/pissing and moaning, and so on and so forth? Riiiiiight... ive known many MEN to have a docile nature one minute... and an EXPLOSIVELY dangerous one the next based on situations they are put in... people they are conversing with.... and even just what kind of day, week, or month they have been having. PMS isnt real its just made up so the institutions can label us women as "insane and dangerous". The cramping and bleeding and pain and problems of a period CAN BE STRESSFUL and pit us in a mood yes... but we are NOT FUCKING PSYCHOTIC because of it. If someone is like that its usually cuz they are bipolar, manic depressive, or just batshit insane. There are plenty NORMAL CAPABLE women out there despite their periods that can handle it WITHOUT MOOD SWINGS.
In short... YOU FAIL understanding a woman and how she works biologically, mentally, and emotionally. You must be a misogynistic male to spout such bullshit.
No one here has mentioned Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan. A Muslim nation had a female leader before the great American Empire.
Plus, there were Egyptian and Byzantine Queens who were at least equal to their husbands, Nefertiti and Theadora for example.
We are not amused.
- Queen Victoria
I know that it´s a bit late, but... Dilma Roussef, the first woman to be elect president in Brazil !!! Oh, she was guerrilla too !!!

The scene just after the alien technology-based 'Marine One' lands outside the White House early on in "Independence Day: Resurgence". The scene early on in the film "Edge of Tomorrow".
Science Fiction having a rather nasty habit of becoming Science Fact ? You'd better crawl back under that stone you've been living under since 1991, because if the notion of what the scenes in those two films represent, then the above photo will kill* you.
...if you're not already dead from the shock of what happened in late 2008.
*- Maggie Thatcher (*spit *) = the Alien Queen in "ID4:R".
I personally think that colorless green ideas sleep furiously.
Men don't have mood-swings? You don't know any men NOR any women, do ya, dearie?
Confused?
