While I understand your inability to see any belief as non-religious from inside your faith-based delusional bubble, I can't understand how you immediately condone violence when your (mandated) proof-less beliefs are challenged. While I agree with you whole heartedly (and as obvious from this quote) that these types of people are completely off their rockers... please dont give up hope or become so close minded that all religious people who believe in an almighty montheistic God are like this.

This person is insane and completely consumed in their hatred... but do not think that God... or even A GOD/creative deity from any openminded person's perspective is truly a ruthless hateful vengeful cruel uncaring and insensitive prick that these people make him/her/it out to be.

You have to remember... these people are parroting what they hear... and twisting the scriptures to suit their beliefs and biggoted ideals... they are filled with hate presuming their God wants that and expects that from them or condones it.

This is simply false... they follow a false God of destruction... not the true God who IS by it's very nature.. love wisdom peace and light. I can promise you its not like this... these are just closeminded fools who love nothing more than to hate on anyone and everthing that doesnt share their beliefs. And I am disgusted with them for smearing my God's good name and spiritual teachings. Because its TWISTED SICK people like this who drive good people like you away from the true God that is nothing but LOVE.

There's Christianity and there's fundamental cultism which has pretensions to Christianity. It is the sort of fundamental cultism that fosters rabid puritanical fanaticism and merciless tyrannical savagery. It is seen in many parts of the world among people who are ostensibly part of a major monotheistic religion. It is developing in a very unhealthy manner in certain parts of the western world, unfortunately. It spreads like a contagious, disfiguring disease, contorting the minds of children and turning them into ravening, inhumane, monsters bereft of any moral or ethical sensibilities.

But still fundamental cultists cling to Christianity to try and hide their true nature. However, I think the disguise is beginning to slip now, revealing for all to see a seething mass of rancid horror, reveling in its evil potential and broadcasting its ignorance in a triumphant manner. Its true purpose is to maintain control over a duped populace to more easily obtain political power and wealth.

Fundamental cultism is a mental disease that causes delusion and insanity. As such, I think your name, or nickname, of Christian is most inapt. Pick a new one. Maybe something like Mindwreck, or Vandalhead.

That's false. Most of us won't stoop to lying and spreading propaganda like the creationists do. In fact, to most of us the ONLY acceptable method of eliminating religion is through encouraging critical thinking and research. Yeah, sure there are some jerks out there who, like you, think this is a war, but just like people like you, they are a minority (albeit a very loud and obnoxious one).

Ah, the old "this is war, so we're justified in doing absolutely anything" argument. Religious extremists have always been fond of it, so it's no surprise that this clown's continuing the tradition.

What really disturbs me, however, is that it seems to have been seeping into the rest of American culture and manifesting in other instances for decades now - "war on terror," "war on drugs," etc, so much so that it's become a damn meme, the "war on <noun>," a phrase inevitably wheeled out whenever people start calling for self-restraint or reasonable limits on the activity of those who would declare it.

For some people, it seems, everything's a fucking war.

There's this thing called freedom of speech. When you burn the billboards down or vandalize them, you are not attacking the atheists foremost, you are attacking democracy. In other words, you are a terrorist.

Rights go both ways, you know. If you have the right to put up Christian billboards, then atheists, Muslims, Jews, Shintoists, Buddhists, pagans, etc, have the right to put up their billboards.

In my experience atheists are in general interested in what everyone has to say, and the theists are often the closed-minded ones, who won't listen to others.

In some respects I agree with Christian. This is somewhat of a war.

For those of you that think there is a clear cut division between mainstream religion and extremism, think again. The problem is not who is extreme and who isn't, the problem is faith itself. When your world view is based on an illogical foundation, violence and extremism is inevitable because you can not sit down with your adversaries and reasonably discuss your differences...because those differences are not based in reason to begin with. The only way to be "right" is to eventually kill the other guy. Seriously, think about it, how in hell are the Muslims and Jews ever going to resolve their differences? The both believe that they are the rightful possessors of certain "holy land" and there is no way that either side is going to convince the other that their claims are more valid...because neither is valid to begin with.

I will also add that it is not only religion that leads to this intractability, but it is the most convenient label. There are other ideologies that yield the same result such as nationalism.

The bottom line though is that for this world to ever find true peace, religion must go, and it will. It is just a matter of time because this is not a conspiracy. It is an unstoppable social force. The big question is how painful and violent the transformation will be as the world moves from a society based on myths to one based on reason.

By the looks of it is going to suck pretty bad.

Atheists feel that they can marginalize the majority of people just so they arent "offended" as such their actions prove that they would love to destroy christianity. And come on...dont deny it, most of you athieist here would like it destroyed, just admit it. Thats why moderate christians like me have become veryintolerant of atheists; its not enough for them to just be atheis; they have to spread it and force it on others, much like the "evil" christians they seem to criticize do.

Besides most of what the quote said has been proven by the comments here, and the very existance of FSTDT; a web site bent on encouraging the elimination of christianity.

Its very much a "either he destorys me or i destroy him" situation. Neither atheists nor christians will rest till their side dominates. There is no compromise, your either with them or against them, and that applies both to atheists and christians.

You know if atheists werent so obsessed with being PC they'd just come out and admit, that if given the chance to repeal the 1st amendment section protecting the free exercise of religion, they would gladly do it and impose a system like the Soiet Union or China, where the official "belief/non-belief" system is atheism. Its the refusal of atheists to admit that this is what they want and are activly seeking that pisses me off. Stop hiding in sheeps clothing and just admit you want to destroy religion. I can sort of respect an honest atheist, but not a hypocrite

Atheists like Newdow, Dawkins and others DO mind christians and are actively trying to impose a system much like under Saddam Hussein, where a minority group imposes its beliefs on others; the exact opposite of democracy. Thats my opinion.
Dawkins can be rather arrogant, but anything I've heard from him, he merely expresses disdain for religion. Extreme disdain, but nothing more. Newdow, from what I understand, merely has the nerve to try and hold the United States to it's own constitution, seeking to repeal an addition to the pledge made a mere 50 or so years ago in the midst of McCarthy's witch hunts as Commie Kryptonite, and therwise maintainign the separation of church and state. And while we're on the topic of "Opposite of democracy" what about telling a portion of the populace that they cannot marry because a holy book says they're evil, working to sneak a myth into Science class through the back door, claiming it's not religious by whiting out God, and putting in "a creator" (Never mind that everything else tends to smell suspiciously like the Genesis account of creation) along with a host of other "questionable" things. Don't you harp about our fundies forcing beliefs on you, when your fundies have made it into an art form.

No, it's a place for people to congregate, and at least feel better that there are still sane people out there, that shake their head at some of the things posted here.

By having the nerve to expect the right of Freedom of Religion to apply to us as well, not to mention to not be painted as baby eaters? Yes, I can see where we're being unreasonable.

Of course not. I'd just rather people like you respect my beliefs while expecting me to respect yours. I have no issue with religion. It's when a religion starts stepping on my rights that I get pissed.

Thats why moderate christians like me have become veryintolerant of atheists; its not enough for them to just be atheis; they have to spread it and force it on others, much like the "evil" christians they seem to criticize do.
And the atheists that do that are likely to get posted here as well, as they are no better than any other fundie. However, don't you dare try and make a distinction between yourself and the fringe if you are not willing to to observe the distinction between the average atheist and our own fringe.

"Predominantly." Therein lies the rub. Just because the majority is Christian in some flavor or another does not mean the country should identify as such. To acknowledge just "God" alienates the rest of the country...Muslims, Wiccans, Hindus, atheists, etc. You may disagree with them, and they may not make up the majority, but they are as American as you are. Why must they take a back seat, just because they don't have the numbers? And no one is saying that Christians should be disallowed to express themselves. However in the context of law, and public domain, to keep the first amendment, you have two options. Acknowledge all, or acknowledge none. And one last time, I ask...if it's just words, why is it such a deal that they remain in? Remove under God, and it is inclusive to all. There is no bias, just unity to the country and what it stands for.

Passing a law requiring a person to say it would be state sponsored religious issue; leaving up the pledge to be said or not said by the individual does not sanction anything. And neither does congress CHOOSING to recite it.

Forgive me, but i thought the Majority has just a bit more room to do what they want in a democracy; i didnt realize this was a monarchy where the minority can dictate what they want just to make things "fair". So long as there is no berlin wall type issue keeping these people from leaving, theres no issue. Dont like it dont say it. Just like the libs say about gay mariage "dont like it, dont get one". I would add if it such an "oppresive thing" to hear the word God uttered, maybe you need to leave.

Funny how rarely do Jews or muslims, hindus or buddhists complain about the pledge...it usually only atheists...

False premise, they don't have a form of religion, they're atheists. Or they're in the same one they were but don't believe in all of it. Projection, because you're the one exposing yourself as trying to force your ideology on others, the reason you are demonizing atheists with libel, putting up a straw man of them as if they were the Inquisition. The latter was religious and Christian, remember. This also suggests that you intend to corrupt education in favor of indoctrination, because you claim that untainted education is imposed by nefarious cabals. The separation of church and state is a constitutional requirement and means that you're free to teach your children at home and at church, but that imposing doctrine is not the role of public education. That's not an atheist cabal at work. It even protects other Christians against persecution by a particular Christian cult, like yours. It suggests that your particular cult is manipulative and exploitative, that it needs to deny knowledge to its victims to control them.

DOS claimed to be representing moderate Christians, asserting that atheists deserved to be hated. I question that, considering their arguments and the attempt to justify the original poster's crime enticement by putting up the "atheists" straw man in the same boat as the OP. Then pushing paranoid slippery slope conspiracy theories about them (i.e. Communism). And entertaining the same false premise as the OP, that the separation of church and state is some kind of atheist conspiracy. The whole thing did not have to mention atheists at all, a minority. It only did to demonize secular society and present straw men to scapegoat.
