[On a thread about how fundies feel about Halloween]
As if happiness is he point of life. That’s what you get when you reject God. A false and unsatisfying purpose in life.

But isn’t it the point? What more could our feeble little mammalian minds possibly get out of existence before we’re snuffed out? What more could anyone ask for than a life of joy, camaraderie, and a rewarding career?
That's not to say one should be a wild hedonist that consumes an excess of every worldly pleasure that crosses his before spectacularly burning out and dieing young. I'm sure that kind of existence is pretty hollow once you run out of fun things to do and/or get hooked on hard drugs. But that's not something I'd call happiness either.
So, crabbiness is next to godliness?
I'll take Halloween & happiness over The Demiurge, any day.
I think Frankie is confused. You're supposed to get happiness when you come to God, thus rejection of God is a rejection of satisfying happiness. What I was taught at least.
I can't say I was ever satisfied in religion, but I'm still not. But that mostly because my boyfriend and I cant' live together. I sads.
I was confused for a second, I thought it was Blogger Frank Viola. Didn't realize it was a random commentor. Stuff stands, but thought Frank was a pretty sane voice from the evangelical community.
My purposes in life are my family, my job, my friends and my community. They are quite real, not false. I also find them quite satisfying. I realize this is the part where you puff out your chest and sneer, "you only think you're happy."
That observation would carry more weight if your lot weren't constantly whining "Oh I soooo hate this world! Jezuz please come soooon!"
As if happiness is he point of life.
Then why do double standard new born christians always run around with a fake smile plastered on there faces pretending to be in a permanent state of elation because they've (supposedly) been washed in the blood of the lamb, aka "saved".
The point of life for you is to live in subservience to a being you have never seen, never heard, but whose supposed word is in direct contradiction with the way the world works.
You seem to be under the impression happiness makes you reject your god. Well, have fun living a miserable life.
Well that explains why you're all a bunch of miserable, whiny assholes, despite all that "joy" you claim to find in Jesus. Yes, happiness does matter. It's healthier, more productive and leads to a more peaceful world.
Happy people are also less likely to finger-point and meddle in other people's lives, which also explains a lot of fundie and Conservative behavior.
You're right, it's much more joyful and satisfying reading the buybull telling us to take unruly children to the edge of town and stone them. That and the part how men who rape women are forced by law to marry them. And how you should kill those that work on the sabbath. Yeah, joyful and satisfying.
Joyful and satisfying
Numbers 31:7-18
Moses, Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the people went to meet them outside the camp. But Moses was furious with all the military commanders who had returned from the battle. "Why have you let all the women live?" he demanded. "These are the very ones who followed Balaam's advice and caused the people of Israel to rebel against the LORD at Mount Peor. They are the ones who caused the plague to strike the LORD's people. Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves.
Clearly both Moses and God approve of killing women and boys, and the rape of virgins.
"God. A false and unsatisfying purpose in life."
You said it, I didn't! [/hyper-smartarse]

"So the choice is, happiness or God. Ooooh, that's a toughy!"
I refer you to the above quote by Nick Abbot. (Fnarr-Fnarr! etc etc...!) [/Finbarr Saubders] X3
Because you're satisfied with not being happy?
I guess there's an existance between not worried and stable but never really enjoying life, pepetual boredom. Is that why fundies enjoy trying to control or punish people who are quite happy without church or Biblical control?
I think I think so.
@dfmfundies comment WIN
"This guy's not happy unless he's not happy."
