What Captain Capitalism failed to realize is that I don't see the growing preponderance of women in higher education as evidence that women are going to run the world. To the contrary, I see it as evidence that higher education is in the late stages of collapse. Because women ruin everything. The final stage will be reached when Title IX is successfully applied to the STEM degrees, which is already federal law, and math and the hard sciences are sufficiently dumbed down to permit women to receive what is determined to be an equitable number of those degrees.
By that point, men will have likely created alternative systems to the university credentials that are as unpalatable to women as the universities once were, and successful businesses will be increasingly prone to utilize those systems. Some sort of online achievement-based system like those popular in the IT world would appear to be the likely candidate, especially as the availability of online degrees from prestigious institutions continues to increase. Once 50,000 Indians and 100,000 Chinese are graduating with degrees from Harvard, its social cachet will plummet.

The never ending enjoyment of saying stupid things on the internet - it's a hobby. It's a way of life. It's a sign of the times.
Vox Day is a grumbler par excellence, though I expect he thinks he's got a lot to grumble about, women being as smart, or more often smarter than him, being chief among them. Ordinarily, that wouldn't really matter, but perhaps he's been brought up to think of men as demigods who might one day, by being a diligent and conscientious jerk, attain the status of tent commander.
Q: How smart can you actually be if you think that your gender entitles you to be thought of as naturally smart?
A: As smart as unwanted cannon fodder.
Meanwhile, in the real world, women (on average) get higher scores in all subjects, as long as they are not discouraged from studying and told that only men manage those "hard" subjects.
University credentials weren't unpalatable to women in the past, but unavailable to them, stupid. If you're not allowed in because of your gender, your gender is going to be statistically negligible in that field, strangely enough.
Why would Captain Capitalism realize what you see or don't see, you insignificant twerp? Women don't want to rule the world, asshole, we just want half the seats, as we constitute half the population.

You're joking right? When I was working in IT it was hard to find anybody who didn't have about two or three certifications [MSCE, CCNE, A+, etc] after their name. Everyone thought they were the key to landing a high-paying job so they became so watered down and easy to cheat that everybody had one. As a result, most employers started ignoring them and using (wait for it) degrees from traditional four-year colleges as the primary discriminator for hiring decisions.
"Because women ruin everything."
I dunno, I think women make sex a lot more enjoyable, but hey, whatever gets you through the night.
Oh no, how ever will I get these mysterious online achievement-based systems you speak of? My tiny brain cannot grasp the idea, and my boobs are too big to work with a keyboard and mouse.
Oh wait, I have certificates related related to my field on top of my college education.
Also, two things go up with years of education: lifetime earnings and life expectancy. The thing that goes down? Illness and complications from illness.
Doubting Thomas : Vox is actually married. His wife, "Spacebunny" helps him moderate his blog.
As for women being bad at things like math: That girl who played "Winnie" from the "Wonder Years" is a professional mathmatician.
Hurr, durr, lookey me, dirty libruls, imma racist sexist internet tough guy trolling for attention; give it tah me now!
Ahahahaha. Ahaha. Ha.
What a loser.
@Skyknight : to people like Beale, if things like a quality education are common and the same rights and privileges are granted to all, then there's nothing to which the elites--that is, people like HIM--can compare themselves.
If everyone is special, then no one is. Social privilege is strictly a zero-sum game.
My 4-foot-nothing, 74 year old STEM-graduate-degree totin' Mama would kick this scumbag's ass, mentally and physically, with only one brain cell and both hands tied behind her back.
Your mother got up at 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM for you when you were a baby. Disregarding the bullshit about women not being able to do STEM, that is a hell of a lot more important than STEM, and something our society is sorely lacking in understanding and valuing. Also, online degrees from Harvard? You're a moron.
Golda Meir. Indira Gandhi. Benazir Bhutto. Angela Merkel. Theresa May.

When a man - James May - who is a Doctor of Letters has that on his car in an episode of "Top Gear", then his lack of comment on how she could possibly do any worse should tell you something, VD.
...and I wouldn't use Wi-Fi & Bluetooth if I were you, pal: Spread-Spectrum Frequency Hopping was invented by Hedy Lamarr. A woman .
The devil's advocate was wondering whether he's arguing against a QUOTA for STEM courses.
But no. It just says they need applications to be gender neutral. If you believe men are naturally ubermenschen Vox you wouldn't be railing defensively against the idea of an even playing field.
Girls are less interested in STEM as it is. We really don't need to discourage the minority who could be interested any further.
The idea that the world keeps proving that you aren't as great as you think you are really chaps you, doesn't it Vox?
If higher education is in such a poor state, what does it say about you that you couldn't hack it, Mr. Failed Engineer?
University/college was never unpalatable to women, it was unobtainable.
"Some sort of online achievement-based system like those popular in the IT world would appear to be the likely candidate, especially as the availability of online degrees from prestigious institutions continues to increase."
Achievement unlocked: College Degree! But seriously, women go online too, dolt.
As always, you and your blog are sadly misnamed. Grow up.
