If I knew without a shadow of a doubt that God wanted me to kill my child for any reason, I most certainly would. I love God with all my being. He rescued me from everything in life. Yes, God is all-knowing, but He wanted to test Abraham's faith through it. He knew beforehand that Abraham was willing, but Abraham did not know before. God puts trials in the lives of every single human being to draw them closer to Him. It may not seem like it most times, but I guarantee it has a purpose. God did really love Abraham too. He loves every single living thing on this planet because HE made it, and molded it after His own image.

I hope that, when you speak of your child, you are speaking hypothetically. May you never reproduce!
If you are a parent... they really need to take your child(ren) away from you.
In any case, you are an abominable monster.
"If I knew without a shadow of a doubt that God wanted me to kill my child for any reason, I most certainly would."
because you're pro life because god told you to be pro life.
Ordering the ones you 'love' to destroy the things and ones they love to prove how much you love them, is a horrific, abusive thing to do. It's the psychotic boyfriend demanding you delete all your friends from your phone and never speak to another man again.
I pity this woman. What a miserable way to live.
Well, as he had absolutely no qualms about ordering the worse -than war crimes in Hosea 13:16, you tell me Abbers.
And all 'pro-Lifers' who think their anti-Abortion 'agenda' has the right to exist.
It’s worth noting that Jewish interpretation is not kind to Abraham over this. Granted the interpretation is quite a bit removed from the era DarkPhoenix’s link mentioned, where firstborn sacrifice was seen as normal and proper, but the early rabbis still saw Abraham as having failed God’s test.

I know this includes dog anuses; I've seen photos that look just like Him.
Isaac and his mother lived alone in a small house on a hill. Isaac kept to himself, drawing pictures, and playing with his toys, as his mom watched christian broadcasts on the television.
Life was simple, and they were both happy. That was until the day Isaac's mom heard a voice from above;
"Your son has become corrupted by sin! He needs to be saved!"
"I will do my best to save him, my lord" his mother replied, Rushing into Isaac's room, removing all that was evil from his life.
Again, the voice called to her; "Isaac's soul is still corrupt! He needs to be cut off from all that is evil in this world, and confess his sins!" "I will follow your instructions lord, I have faith in thee" Isaac's mother replied, as she locked Isaac in his room, away from the evils of the world.
One last time, Isaac's mom heard the voice of god calling to her; "You've done as I've asked, but I still question your devotion to me. To prove your faith, I will ask one more thing of you"
"Yes lord, anything" Isaac's mother begged. "To prove your love and devotion, I require a sacrifice, your son Isaac will be this sacrifice. Go into his room, and end his life as an offering to me to prove you love me above all else"
"Yes lord" she replied, grabbing a butcher's knife from the kitchen.
Isaac, watching through a crack in his door, trembled in fear.
Scrambling around his room to find a hiding place, he noticed a trap door to the basement, hidden under his rug.
Without hesitation, he flung open the hatch, just as his mother burst through his door, and threw himself down, into the unknown depths below.
“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

He made every living thing on this planet in His own image?
Even this little ribbon worm...?

(Link instead of picture, due to somewhat disturbing image. Phill Jupitus screamed in disgust on the QI show, and hid his face in his hands so he wouldn't see...)
You know, I'd start with the usual "blood for the blood god" thing, but that would be inappropriate here.
...This, this isn't funny at all. This is a mother saying she'd gladly murder her own children because her (outdated and inane) beliefs say so.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!!! May you never have actual kids! And if you do, may child services take them away from you as quickly as possible.
And then they dare to say they're "pro-life"... Seriously, this is why sane people look down on religions as barbaric. This is why we think you have no place anymore in our society. GROW THE F*CK UP!!!!
While we’re all focusing on the willingness to further fail the same test as Abraham...I notice she says that God loves everything in the world because he crafted it in his image. Is this to say he’ll necessarily detest that which isn’t in his image? That...really isn’t helping Yhvh’s narcissist reputation. (Although come to think of it, do we know of any Mesopotamian divinities that were definitely not narcissists? Not rhetorical.)
"If I knew without a shadow of a doubt..."
Excuse me, but just how much do you actually know without a shadow of a doubt?
Seems to me that the lack of even a slight doubt would be psychotic.
I'm not sure if there's anything I have NO doubts on, not even tiny little shadows of one, down in the corner.
If I heard the voice in my head command murder and KNEW it to be true, I'd hope that would be the first symptom I recognized...
"He loves every single living thing on this planet because HE made it, and molded it after His own image."
This makes god a narcisist. He only loves what is like him. This is not the attributes of someone who does know love, who can feel TRUE LOVE. True love is to love another as they are, not as you are. For humans, this can be quite tasking to some, though there are many people who can loe inconditionally. Yet this god can't love unconditionally, he has set strick bounderies on how he will love and who should receive his love. This makes god a really terrible person. And i'm supposed to worship and love this guy?? The hell i would. Fear him, sure, since it can level entire cities and kill people unexpectedly, but love him? Never!
Now see, this is just absolutely frightening. When someone has this mindset and they become mentally ill, you get Andrea Yates. Why do we trust an old story in an old book of a guy nearly murdering his child because God told him to, but yet we don't believe any number of people on trial for horrendous behavior who also say God told them to?
If this story had really happened, think about how it must have traumatized Isaac. After that happened, at some point he would have thought, "Fuck! My dad tried to kill me because he thought God told him to!"
And lastly, the only correct answer to a deity requiring sacrifice is "Fuck off!" Any god who demands you not only sacrifice a child, but your own only child to him is not any being worth worship. Even if it's to test your loyalty, it's a psychological mindfuck. I wouldn't ask my wife to do anything she didn't want to do in order to prove her love for me, because I actually care about her and her feelings.
Yes, God is all-knowing, but He wanted to test Abraham's faith through it. He knew beforehand that Abraham was willing
Total bullshit, you're making that up.
Read the goddam Bible. It says explicitly "for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me" (Gen 22:12, KJV). I checked, the Hebrew uses the word `attah which means "now", not "already" or "since the beginning", or whatever.
Why do you say "he knew beforehand" when the Bible says he didn't know beforehand? That's a secondary, retrospective opinion. You're reading something into the text that isn't there and certainly wasn't intended by the person who wrote the text. The God of the Old Testament isn't like what you want him to be. He isn't "all-knowing". He gets mad. He wants praise and offerings. He's very human.
Due to your modern interpretation you will burn in Hell for all eternity.
"Would you, honey, that's nice."
