How pathetic is it to end up in Hell because you refused to acknowledge reality? God is greater than you. God calls all the shots in His own Creation. Why do people act like submitting to Jesus as their God and Savior is such an outrageous demand? It’s not like God is asking us to scale Mt. Everest or swim across the ocean before He will accept us. The only thing He is asking from us is an acknowledgement of reality—He’s God and we’re dots. He’s awesome, we’re pathetic. He defines us, He controls us, and His opinion is the only One that counts. What is so offensive about acknowledging these super obvious truths? Well, if we acknowledge the way things actually are, then we are forced to conclude that we are dependent dots who are utterly unimpressive. Where is the glory in being a dot? There isn’t any. Our joy and satisfaction in life comes from delighting in the magnificence of our Creators and living for Their approval.

Errr, because slavery is immoral?
When you make it fairly clear that God is a psychopathic egotist that gets off on hurting people then yes it is incredibly unreasonable. That's like saying I should consider a serial killer that takes me captive my personal saviour. That's like saying I should have loved my stepfather specifically because he ruined my life to fuel his control complex.
Is a schoolyard bully glorious? Are the leaders of gangs like the Crips and Bloods greater men than me? Was Pol Pot an awesome being worthy of worship? No. They're pathetic little creatures that use increasing amounts of violence to enforce their will and the world hates them for it. Scale doesn't change a thing. If terror is all that your God stands for, that your very foundation of living is built on then you truly are a pitiable person.
Let me tell you something about an ego that needs to be glorified through terror: The minute you're not scared of them they shatter like glass before your very eyes. The thing that scared me more than death was suddenly more scared of losing control over me than I ever was of being punished by him and it reduced him to an almost comical parody of himself, spewing empty threats and trying to menace me with such desperation you'd think I was twice his size instead of the other way around. Your God would be no different. Stripped of all terror he would be just as lost and pathetic. Beaten. Broken. Unable to function.
Just show us reality-based evidence for the existence of your particular god, that can't be used for any other gods, and we'll think about it.
There is nothing offensive about this, it's just that it's very far from "super obvious truths".
So, if we are just pathetic unimpressive dots, abortion is not a problem with you, right? Embryos are just potential even tinier and less impressive dots, then...

Reality is what saved me from the hell of being religious. I hated the idea of having to go to church or end up in Hell. I hated having to conform to what everyone else believed.
Why do people act like submitting to Jesus as their God and Savior is such an outrageous demand?
Because Christians demand that we believe in things with absolutely no evidence for them, and to believe that an obviously flawed book is the 100% perfect word of God.
He’s God and we’re dots. He’s awesome, we’re pathetic. He defines us, He controls us, and His opinion is the only One that counts. What is so offensive about acknowledging these super obvious truths?
It's offensive to think that I have absolutely no worth as a human being, and no say in how I live my life, and that I have to do what some god says just because he is powerful. Furthermore, the way you've painted your god as a narcissistic deity which doesn't give a shit about humans doesn't make me want to worship him.
> He’s God and we’re dots.

Honey, honey,
Sugar, sugar,
You are his candy girl,
And your God is watching you!
Anyone else notice many of Annes missives are present tense posted directly to those already in Hell?
She's not the only one but she does it more regular than most. Like she practices for her Heaven blog that's required reading in Hell of course, because she, like many of them, think they are going to personally witness and chastise everybody that disagreed with them and Sarah Palin.
"He’s awesome, we’re pathetic."
Speak for yourself, I am awesome. I am more awesome than your god (and I'm more moral than your god too).
"How pathetic is it to end up in Hell because you refused to acknowledge reality?"
Ha. ... Ha-ha!...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
(gasp)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
... Haha, Ha....
Oh, you were serious?
"Why do people act like submitting to Jesus as their God and Savior is such an outrageous demand? "
Maybe because there is no evidence that it exists, and more and more people are questioning previously accepted dogma.
If there was a god he would be more powerful than me, certainly. Would he be a better person than me? Not in the least. I'm just an imperfect weak human who probably wont make any world shattering changes to human history but if he is so strong and just why not help his creations? He has the power to be an ultimate force for good but instead he's a slave driving egotist who acts like a petulant child.
Our joy and satisfaction in life comes from delighting in magnificence of our Creators and living for Their approval.
Why the plural? Are you hiding a whole pantheon of 'em up there, you little minx?
"What is so offensive about acknowledging these super obvious truths?"
"He’s God and we’re dots. He’s awesome, we’re pathetic . He defines us, He controls us, and His opinion is the only One that counts ."
Gee, I wonder.
Question is, is glory even worth seeking? Honor is more important than glory, anyway.
@Old Viking: She classifies Yhwh, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as distinct divinities. Hence the plural.
All this talk of dots. Anna would see a much bigger picture if she learned how to connect them instead of seeing them as isolated and insignificant things. Just drawing a line between the points of light in the sky gave birth to constellations, imagination, legends, and practical navigation. From there we learned the world was so much bigger than whatever patch of ground we stood on. Fundies would have us sever those dots, the ability to imagine and learn, and shiver alone in the dark believing the world simply ends past the horizon.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
