You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them.

Don't knock it, Pat, it's the only reason anyone outside of the bible belt will give you the time of day!
Oh, for crying out loud! Ignorant, supercilious, self-righteous, arrogant and rude...just the kind of image Christ set out to cultivate in his followers, right?
"I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them."
This is an utter contradiction. Pat is throwing the word "love" around with absolutely no thought or consideration for what it actually means. Yet another thing that pisses me off about fundies of all kinds; they all use the word as though just saying it was all you had to do.
Love is generally accompanied by some actions Pat. For a reference on the wrong ones please see everything you've ever done.
Pat, did you pay attention in Baptist seminary school? If so, what part about that talks about the individual nature of belief? And this is worse being a Virginia Baptist, you ought to know better! Your ancestors helped get a law passed that disestablished the Episcopal, and created equality of all beliefs. Shame on you!
What the hell is the fundie definition of love? It seems to mean the same that I thought that hate meant.
Once again we will look at poor old abused Webster......
Love: unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another: as (1): the fatherly concern of God for humankind (2): brotherly concern for others
Hate: intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury
Again, which one sounds like the fundie definition of Love?
pat needed to be told at some point "love is like how you feel about money and making up shit to bilk idiots"
ohhh, i did not know that
Ah, the old "Love them, but act like you hate them" gag. 'Tis getting old.
And technically, Pat, opinions can't be false. That's why they're called opinions, and not, say, "facts."
read the fourth quote on that site. What's even more iteresting is that termites actually do build things...ever see a termite mound? xD
Oh, yes, "True Christians" like yourself do love people. They just don't show it! Moron.
I was under the impression that you're supposed to generally be nice to your fellow man (and woman) overall, regardless of religion. Not all of my friends are Eastern Orthodox Christian, some are Catholic, some are Methodist, Jewish, Muslim, it doesn't matter what religion they follow! As long as they're nice PEOPLE and don't let their religion get in the way of that, I couldn't care less. You seriously need a reality check.
I'd really like to hear this extortionist's formal definition of "love".
Making sure the object of his "love" is fearful, guilty, and ashamed to be alive?
Hmm. I seem to remember that, in human development (not that I'd accuse Pat of being human), there is a phase where the tendency is that one IS mean to the focus of one's affection. That phase starts roughly around 5 years old and ends about 8-10 depending on the emotional progression of the child.
So seems Pat's stuck in the "dipping pigtails in inkwells" (to use a very archaic version) phase.
Matthew said love thy enemy. I'm guessing Pat Robertson means something like that. It is not that uncommon.
BTW. Matthew said in the same verse to be good to those that hate you. I guess for him to be nice to you hating him would be a good start. Although I am not quite sure what be good means in his mind.
Confused?
