SOPA lets the US finally censor the Internet.

People visiting a European web site from South America will be relying on cables and servers in the USA for part of the communication. That's not how SOPA works... All SOPA requires is that US DNS server results have domain names blocked/restricted when flagged. That means that when you try to access siteabc.com, you won't be able to find it. You will still be able to access the site if you know the IP address.
The fact that this is so easy to circumvent and will only harm normal consumers is one of the reasons that SOPA is stupid.

At least the Chinese people are constantly pushing for MORE access to information rather than less.
It's not enough that a majority of Americans would stand idly by as their freedoms are taken away (given that SOPA has a significant chance of getting passed into law), but there actually exist those like Alexander Cornswalled who actively cheer on this steady progression into Fascism.
It is indeed fortunate that the Founding Fathers of the United States had the foresight to pass the Bill of Rights to ensure that there is at least some safeguard on the rights their successors are so eager to throw away.
Well, from what I understand, SOPA doesn't quite work that way, but in spite of that, you have come up with some fairly sound reasons to oppose it.

What? Seriously, in what universe is censorship a good thing?
I will own that the whole "virtue can only thrive if it is sealed off from the wickedness elemental that is the universe" conceit sounds a lot like Juche; Koreans are inherently virtuous and weak, non-Koreans are inherently vile and strong, and only the Kim dynasts are CAPABLE of combining strength and virtue on their own (Koreans have to be imbued by the dynasts). Substitute "Koreans" with "Christians" and "Kim dynasts" with "God and Jesus", and you probably get something like Cornswalled's ideals.
I think there's a lot that can be attributed to the allure of not having to dedicate mental/physical resources to charting your own path. While there is quite a bit of at-least-lip service to the precepts of freedom and liberty, it ultimately seems to translate to "able to walk the already-known perfect course of RTC without being interdicted"; not freedom, or perhaps better, ability to choose, but ability to follow the (allegedly) perfect course. To such ones, censorship is good because it helps interdict the possibility of distraction. They're so suffused with the idea of humans' inability to be simultaneously strong and good that, if only subconsciously, they reject and FEAR capability of choice as a corruption. If one is perfect, choice, and the implicit change, can only lead to decay and corruption. If a particular course is known to be perfect, choosing otherwise can only be at best foolishness. Just as North Koreans are impelled to look solely to the dynasts for strength, never their own strength and insights, so the RTCs feel impelled to rely only on the divine revelations, never their own insights and/or needs, for cleaving to perfection.

Keep in mind the usual RTC claims about freedom; namely, freedom TO worship God, but never freedom to abjure God's authority. I suspect they're subconsciously thinking of this freedom as a freedom FROM Satanel's influence--and since Satanel is supposed to be the default controller of things, a new freedom is really a rebinding from him to God. The idea of the physical not being subordinate to some part of the spiritual is, ultimately, chimeric to the RTC. The only choice physically and metaphysically possible to them is not fealty and freedom, but fealty to Satanel and fealty to God.
