Since I am on my parents' government health insurance, it costs about $40,000 of your taxpayer money every year to keep me healthy and alive. I am entitled to it. Society owes me the price of keeping me healthy and alive when I can't afford to do so myself, and it owes me the other means to become as self-supporting as possible (e.g. education, decent living wages, fair working hours and conditions) because without it, one would have no other choice but to "sit around and think the world owes them a living," because that's the only way they'd be able to survive or live a life where they aren't subject to "blue bloods who seek to enslave all common people."
If you think you aren't entitled to be treated like your life is actually worth something and deserves to be taken care of, then you hate yourself. If you think you don't deserve to live if you can't provide for yourself, then you hate yourself. If you think you deserve to be a wage slave because you can't work your way up the socioeconomic ladder on your own, then you hate yourself. You can't love yourself if you believe you aren't worthy or entitled to be helped when you need it, if you believe you have to fight or work for it. You love what others think you are worth, not the wonderful person who stares back in the mirror: if you believe that individual has to pay for his worthiness, then he has no value or worth to you. Otherwise you would look into the eyes of the soul staring back in the mirror, and you would see his existence is without question worth its cost to society. You would see he deserves the respect and the help of the world that created him and the society that cultured him.
Unless you believe you deserve respect, you have no self-respect. And unless you believe you are entitled to a decent life simply because you are you, you don't believe you deserve respect. If you think that others or anything besides your mere existence decides whether you are worthy or deserving of anything, then you cannot, by definition, respect yourself or believe you are deserving of respect.
The free market doesn't decide what I am worth. I do. And I am worth what it costs to keep me on this Earth and allow me to thrive, because I am a fine damn human being, and my gracing this planet with my presence outweighs the cost of keeping me on it. I am worth the cost of flipping the bill required to let me rise to my full potential so I can use my talents and intellect to contribute as much back to humanity as I possibly can. If you think that's arrogant or conceited, it's because you hate yourself, otherwise you would feel the same way about yourself as I do, and you would see nothing wrong with a healthy, self-loving, self-respecting attitude. Fuck off.
