"I don't think witchcraft is a religion. I would hope the military officials would take a second look at the decision they made." G.W. Bush (R), as Governor of Texas. Interviewed on ABC's Good Morning America, 1999-JUN-24. He disapproved of Wiccan soldiers being given the same religious rights as others in the military.

Witchcraft isn't a religion. Wicca is. Because Wicca isn't witchcraft. M'kay?
Besides, if you are going to start dictating what religions are acceptable according the beliefs of another religion, well...then according to Christianity, there are no other religions! Only devil-worshippers who insist on being called something else. However, if anyone else posited that Christians are really paying homage to a demonic overlord instead of the true deity, and wanted to deprive them of their rights to worship due to that, y'all fundies would be pissed.
Think for once in your life, G.W. Think!
The Shrub has always been an asshat, in my opinion and this just proves how far it goes back.
The next administration will be taking some long hard looks at the decisions he made, and reversing them no doubt. And history will remember, too.
Nobody's an American except good Christian folk. But it's okay to send those unamericans to go die in his Christian war.
If there was a god, he would of died on that fucking pretzel.
Were it not for his daddy's name, his daddy's clout, and his daddy's money, Dubya would still be in jail in Texas somewhere. The fucker deserted from the Air Guard because his flight physical was due, and they would have found the drugs in his system and discharged him with prejudice.
All of a sudden, we're back to hereditary privilege. I recall a revolution was fought to eliminate that bad idea.
It's a toss-up whether George III or "George the Turd" caused more bad bullshit here.
Bush is such a fucking idiot.
When I was growing up america was the standard bearer. It was what we were aspiring to. Now it's just an ignorant joke.
Obviously that's a bit of an exaggeration, but fuck it, look at your president of 2 terms.
Who cares what they worship? Hey, they actually are SERVING IN THE MILITARY instead of hiding out in Texas. Unless you've walked the walk, you don't deserve to talk the talk, chickenhawk!
Wicca is not a religio; it is something made up by a nut-job in the 1940s--come to think of it Christianity was made up by a nut job in the just plain 40s. Perhaps its time to read the establishment clause as mandating an end to government supported chaplains (in the Legislative branch too, thank you).
George, George, George. Where would we be without you? Not stuck in a seemingly endless war, as well as an economic recession, that's for sure.
Don't forget... you can't quote Shrub on the Fort Hood thing without also talking about Bob Barr (who is now considering running for President as a ::choke coff:: Libertarian...).

"This move sets a dangerous precedent that could easily result in the practice of all sorts of bizarre practices being supported by the military under the rubric of religion.' What's next? Will armored divisions be forced to travel with sacrificial animals for Satanic rituals? Will Rastifarians demand the inclusion of ritualistic marijuana cigarettes in their rations?," said Barr, in letters to military and congressional leaders.
A Norwegian singer/songwriter said in one of his lyrics: "Nobody is hated as much as a God that turns out to be no God, but only America".
For decades America was the shining beacon the world looked up to. Now Georgie is on his second term.
This is kind of old meme, but it's no less aggravating to read now.
Witchcraft isn't a religion, really. But it's just as well that he didn't (and still doesn't) have the right to make that decision.
Sad to say, it will be decades before the world looks on America with anything but suspicion and loathing, and even longer (if ever) before we trust you again.
Present company excepted, of course.
Aw, leave the Wiccans alone. I never wake up to find one of them preaching on my doorstep, nor do I ever read about a Wiccan dictator burning a path of destruction across some country because they don't believe in the Mother Goddess.
Confused?
