Dungeons and Dragons is a tool of Satan. It's one of his more dorky, socially inept tools though.

Actually... I thought this was kinda funny... a fundie with a sense of humour award?
Can you imagine Satans disapointment? He spends an aeon forging the ultimate tool for the corruption of mankind, and he produces from the Pit... AD+D... and instead of recruiting conan the barbarian look alike satanic fanatics... he gets a bunch of fat sweaty basement dweller virgins, with bad beards, bad BO, and an over developed sense of just how good a friend to a boy a Mum is...
Well, if he´s so inept, why are we seeing so much of his "art" in Lebanon right now, just to refer to a little one?. Oh no, but for you that is not evil, is patriotic. Evil is women praying ocus pocus in a pentagram or people having sex out of marriage.
TammyFaye: lose the stereotyping, would you? It insults us all.
Tim Wilkins: again with the stereotyping, cut it out already!
Nostromo: insult not the holy D20!
Honestly, there are indeed fat sweaty momma's boy gamers with pathetically poor hygene and no life. There are also slighty overweight college-going gamer geeks with plenty of concern for hygene who have a reasonably active social life (like me, dammit!). So stop with the stereotyping already!
Thank you, Hadanelith. I was going to say much the same thing as that last paragraph of yours; that "middle-aged loser geek" stereotype is as bad a mischaracterization as the one the fundie makes in this post. (Actually it's worse, since there ARE a number of those people -- but it is unfair to tar all gamers with the same brush, just as it is unfair to claim that all gays are flamers, or that all Christians are fundies.)

Dungeons and Dragons forces geeks to band together and develop at least some social skills.
No, generally it just allows them to band together and reinforce their complete lack of social skills.
But Magic is worse.
Yeah, enough with the gamer stereotypes! My regular group hasn't met for months because of work conflicts, but none of us meet the stereotype.
Our group has:
The manager of a Lowes superstore and his wife, a kindergarten teacher. They own a lovely home and have two young sons.
A bachelor software engineer who just bought a new house.
A professional Harley-Davidson restorer and former minor league baseball player.
The head reference Librarian at a major metropolitian library.
And me, a Language arts, art, and theology teacher.
Between the 6 of us, there are 3 marriages, 4 houses, 7 college degrees (3 of them mine...**Does Superiority dance**), 4 kids, 5 Varisty Athletic Letters and 4 Varisty Arts Letters(from waaaay back in Hisgh School), 5 heterosexuals, 1 homosexual (who always plays half naked barbarians... go figure), and no one living in anyone's basement.
So there goes the stereotype. LOL
Y'know, man, I statted out Satan once and he wasn't that great. I mean, I've had characters that could fight a war against God and win! Like this one time? At band camp? I had an axiomatic, fiendish, half-celestial, half-dragon (red), lycanthropic, vampiric, titanic half-elf of legend Bbn20/Clr20/Ftr20/ Pal20/Blackguard 10/Rgr20/Wiz20/ Psionicist 20/Master of Chains 10/Oozemaster 10, with an ancient black dragon familiar and specialized in wielding the dreaded two-handed anti-macassar. And he killed the entire D&D pantheon with one blow and took all their stuff! Satan's a wuss, man!
Satan put all his skill points into Diplomacy and Bluff, but Jesus gets that +10 divine bonus to his Sense Motive check (and anyway, whatever he rolls, it becomes a 20) and saw right through him.
Actually, the stereotypes put forward in this thread annoy me more than Dogplatter's comment.
/TLC, slightly underweight 24-year-old gamer with a beard, his own apartment, and decent hygiene, who doesn't play Dungeons and Dragons.
Yeah, can we please not stereotype a game that a goodly percentage of this site's fanbase are or have been involved in? Making fun of Fundies is a victimless crime, but you're insulting your fellow posters.
And hey, considering how intelligent you have to be to post here, I'm surprised more of ya haven't rolled an oddly-shaped die or two.
Yes, yes, I know perfectly well that the stereotypes don't apply... first hand experience.
However, I also know from first-hand experience there are plenty of gamers who DO fit the stereotype... almost willfully it seems.
I've played D&D since the 70s. I am not ashamed of that.
The fight between good and evil is not akin to pure evil. In fact, these themes help us to order our world and see ourselves as good or righteous. Look at the fairytales that we tell our children. Is Hansel and Gretel evil because there is a witch? Sleeping Beauty because of the evil fairy? Snow White?

I don't think you want to know the answers some fundies would give you for those questions.
I used to work at "The Games Cupboard" in Canberra many years ago, premier purveyor of all things RPG in the ACT.
Lot of over weight geeks really, certainly ahead of the population curve for any other population study. Doesn't mean they aren't nice people though.
And just think of all those out of work black clothes sales people if they were to suddenly disapear?!

HA! Yeah, I've worn my share, too. Thanks for the chuckle, Tim!

D&D is alright, but my FAVORITE of Satan's tools is rock and roll!
Satan keeps this tool in his workshop: my idle hands.
My second favorite of Satan's tools are his brake calipers.
I wonder how he would react to the Left Behind RPG, which is based on the 3rd Edition AD&D system...?
That is far more terrifing, than anything that Jack Chick ever drew...
But then that's based on the Rapture, that so many loony fundies believe in...
“Dungeons and Dragons is a tool of Satan”
Really? A zillion years ago, i saw a study that showd D&D players tended to koew a LOT about the supernatural such as salt-for-zombies and crosses-for-vampires, but also taht theyw ere less likely to believe vampires, zombies, werewolves, and such are real.
I’d think Satan would want that Chick Tract, where the game is the filter for recruiting into satanic covens and suicides.
“It's one of his more dorky, socially inept tools though”
Oh, fail a save and fuck all the way off, and get raped bya dildo strapped to the front of a speeding train. The TOOL isn’t dorky, you’re just repeating the stereotype of the gamers.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
