"Just to set things straight:
Banning sex is NOT sinful, banning reproduction however IS. God wants us to reproduce and raise families, it's our lot in life. If anything, the removal of taboos placed on sexuality will cause a downward slide in reproduction. As sex is progressively viewed as a recreational activity, pressure to make anti-conceptive methods more effective builds up, sex becomes more common but reproduction becomes scarce. The solution would be to ban sex entirely whilst making methods of artificial insemination mandatory.
It's not a question of HOW we reproduce but IF. I don't think God would shed many tears if we replaced a primitive and sensual method of reproduction with something more civilized and modest. It's the same concept behind why we rarely create fire by rubbing two sticks together anymore, just with more moral reasoning."

How does this even begin to make sense? Only allow reproduction through in-vitro fertilization or other artificial means? Outlaw all intercourse except procreative missionary-position sex between a married couple?
Yeah, OK, good luck passing and enforcing that, sparky.
Whathastobedone seems to have mistaken "Theology Online" with "Theocracy Online".
So, if reproduction was guaranteed by some sort of futuristic and self-sustaining birthing factory, would all sorts of kinky sex be allowed?
Somehow I doubt concern for reproduction is the underlying cause for objection here.
"downward slide in reproduction" giggle giggle giggle; oh he/she didn't mean THAT kind of downward slide?
And as a woman who enjoys sex AND is trying to get pregnant; I disprove your theory.
@ Blasphemina: LOL
Edit: Visited original post - here is original poster's "slogan" for his/her profile
"Slogan/motto:
Every problem in the world is caused by the fact that someone, somewhere isn't a Christian. - Me"
WOW.
This reminds me of Sulva from That Hideous Strength , coupled with the societies from The Giver and 1984 .
That is NOT a good combination.
"The solution would be to ban sex entirely whilst making methods of artificial insemination mandatory."
You mean like they do to cows in factory farms? A lifetime imprisoned in a cage, enslaved to perpetual pregnancy? Will they be slaughtered when they are no longer "productive" enough?
Of course it's not this guy's fault if it just happens to only enslave the female half of the population. He can just gleefully point to his ego-projection imaginary friend and say it's his plan.
(Yeah, I'm assuming the OP is a guy. This could only come from the mind of a perfect candidate for LoveShy.)
Wow, I feel sorry for your girlfriend/wife, if you have one; which, if you do, won't be for very long. Actually, I feel sorry for you too as you'll be missing out on one of the best experiences in life because of dogma.
Where's the moral reasoning in rubbing two sticks together to create fire?
What's wrong with sensualism?
Contraceptives are not becoming more effective. The most effective method is the condom, and it's been around for centuries, if not millennia. Spermicides have probably been around for thousands of years, as well.
Methods for the woman are newer, however. That's what's really bothering you, right?
Do you mean everyone should be forced to bear children? Who is to take care of all these children? Not everyone is cut out to be a mother or a father, you know. There are millions of unwanted kids in the world, we should take care of them first.
Reproduction is not becoming scarce! This Earth is dangerously over-populated. Did God mean we should actually fill the Earth with people?
I think the poster of this has either had really bad sex, or never had sex, because wanting to ban it entirely, even for reproduction suggests that they simply don't like sex, which is a little odd as humans are hard-wired to enjoy it.
Ban sex entirely? Just how the fuck (if you'll excuse the pun) would you make that work?
This is taking fundie lunacy to new and uncharted depths, which is some achievement.
This is Whathastobedone's personal motto (written by him/herself) on the form: "Every problem in the world is caused by the fact that someone, somewhere isn't a Christian."
Says it all really.
What's happening here is that Whathastobedone is taken the notion that sex is a taboo subject, and decided to try to elevated themselves above everyone else morally by ratcheting their disdain for sex to the highest extreme possible.
You can "ban" it all you want, but I will continue to fuck myself and anyone else who cares to join me all the time. Except for Whathastobedone. They are not invited.
This philosophy has served me well in many respects thus far.
I dunno about your chances at the ballot box kid, here's a slogan with some graphics. Hope it helps.
SAFE!
FUN!

MANDATORY!
So god wants us to reproduce but banning sex is NOT sinful? How did you figure that?
Oh, I see. You didn't think it through. Don't worry, it's a common problem.
"The solution would be to ban sex entirely whilst making methods of artificial insemination mandatory. "
We should also ban eating and mandate tubes in everyones nose.
Also regarding breathing . . .
I think Whathastobedone hasn't EVER gotten laid - at least, not in a fun manner.
Jeez, what a partypooper.
I know Chrisitans really, really, want to control everyone's sex lives, but are you actually advocating banning sex? And do you think that would actually be feasable?
This has to be the both funniest and stupidest statement I've ever seen on here.
I mean, Christians like this don't even realize how screwed up they are. They're advocating banning a perfectly natural human desire because of an ancient superstition started several thousand years ago. You might as well outlaw eating & sleeping, because you're not going to get people to stop. All you're going to do is fill jails with a new class of criminial for no good reason.
All I can say is good luck getting people on board with your idea.
"Banning sex is NOT sinful, banning reproduction however IS. God wants us to reproduce and raise families, it's our lot in life"
Then why don't you lot just become Catholics, and have done with it? You Protestant fundies and your 'Pro-Life', 'Protect the unborn child!' attitude are effectively out-Catholicising the Catholic church. Being anti-abortion and anti-contraception are purely RCC dogma after all. And I thought Protestants opposed Popery in all it's hideous forms?
Enjoy your paradox, Protestant fundies.
"God wants us to reproduce and raise families, it's our lot in life."
Whenever people refer to someone's "lot in life," they're talking about negative, unpleasant things that must be endured. I think this is the first time I ever saw a fundie imply that raising a family is a distasteful chore. Glad I'm not related to him/her/it!
God, who created humans to reproduce through sexual intercourse, and who cannot create anything filthy, abhors this filthy reproductive process. He seeks for us to reproduce through artificial means, seeing as how it is moral as it prevents us from going through natural sexual processes which are sins.
Finally the religious reich reveals their true beliefs. We must reject all things unnatural!
I thought that we don’t create fire by rubbing sticks because it’s just easier to use a match. As opposed to, y’know all the extra hullabaloo requried for artificial insemination.
Say, wait a minute. How do you get the semen for the artificial insemination? Does this mean masturbation is still on the table?
Yes yes and we are also supposed to be working long hours for minimal pay to appease our feudal lords.
I can actually hear people like you screaming:
"PLEASE control and dominate me oh mighty powerful unerring rich people. Impose your beliefs on me that you yourself don't practice. I will blindly swallow every piece of propaganda you throw at me."
You are certifiably insane, not to mention your doctrine would fly in the face of the Catholic church, which abhors anything artificial dealing with human reproduction.
Sex is recreation, and it is healthy. Your attitude, on the other hand, is repressive and wrong.
EDIT: I just had a look at the thread. This is either a troll, or one sick motherfucker.
So you're postulating some sort of future technology where we can have all the sex we want but only have children at times we choose and plan for?
Sounds great to me. I wonder what these futuristic technologies that allows sex to be fun and safe while delaying pregnancy until a more suitable time could be called...? Truly, such anti-procreation barriers or medication, should they come about some day in the far future, would be a miraculous step forwards for our culture.
Actually, if you think about it, sex isn't efficient. By creating zygotes in petri dishes and then implanting them in women we could make babies a lot more efficiently.
Of course, good luck getting anyone to agree to that.
Apart from being flat-out nuts, this guy got its dogmas all wrong.
Go read the Screwtape Letters and The Song of Songs. Pleasure is a good thing. Sex is a good thing. Just because you have issues against it, does not means that God does. God made it like that for a reason.
What's with fundies and saying good things are sinful because they are pleasurable? They are good things, to be enjoyed.
Like Hell that it most "civilized". If anything, striping good things in life for the sake of efficiency (and not even that, since artificial insemination is more complicated than the natural way)is barbaric.
So, to make it short: Go to Hell.
You have proper sentences and no serious internal discrepancies. You also don't appear to strenuously hate any particular group of people. You are clearly on the upper side of this database.
The problem is, you're myopic and crazy, and while your preoccupation with what-is-sinful is internally consistent and all, it makes no allowance for 'reality' or 'other people having the right to opinions.'
If sex is banned, unless you use artificial insemmination or in vitro, condemned by religion too, reproduction is banned as well. Care to solve the riddle?
Actually, if there are methods of artificial insemmination, since sex is a natural instinct, I think it would be used, much more than now, with that finality. Have you thought that?. And man, hasn't your reasoning led to actually questioning God's way of making us reproduce?
Imagine Whathastobedone actually trying to campaign for this law.
Even worse, imagine the government trying to enforce it. (And failing epically, as would inevitably happen.)
Confused?
