Yes, watch and wait. There was a woman there who has lived all over the world. She said in Guam and England there are radio commercials talking about legalizing the stuff. (she was pleased) It will be part of the big plan...you know the peace and safety plan...if everyone is whacked out on the drug of choice (legally) they reduce the number of citizens that are aware of the dire condition we're in. We'll have the one world religion and the drug of our choice and Carl Marx can say from his grave with confidence.."religion is the opiate of the people" only this time we will add actual opiates WITH the babylonian religion. This is not too far off. Look at the young...how they will vote for Obama without even knowing who he is or where he came from. When material comes out that SHOULD be ENLIGHTENING about his past etc,etc it seems to steel their resolve to vote for him even more....

What "stuff"? Are we talking about marijuana here? It should absolutely be legalized or, at the very least, decriminalized. It's a cost/benefit equation, dips***. Why would anyone want the state to shell out hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to prosecute someone for $10 worth of marijuana? It's not just the police time eaten up with paperwork for a victimless crime. You also have to consider the time taken from the judges, prosecuting attorneys, public defenders, probation officers and prison guards--that all costs us taxpayers MONEY .
One quick question: Why do you fundie paragons of morality always assume that the legalization of drugs will immediately lead to huge crowds of people wandering around blissed out of their skulls? The average "social" user partakes of their drug of choice in a responsible manner. Alcohol is legal and the great majority of people don't consume it at work or other innapropriate venues.
Here's a homework assignment, Willow: Try to come up with reasons or factors that highlight why drinking a beer is different from toking a doobie. I'll give you a hint: Alcohol is a drug.
By the way, numb nuts, Marx's name is spelled with a "K"--K arl Marx. Just as a matter of complete indifference...how did you manage to swing from anti-legalization rhetoric to downing Barack Obama?
So, why not legalize marijuana, and decriminalize drug possession? Already, in the USA, 1% of the current population is incarcerated. That's more than 2 million people. And the drug "problem" hasn't gone away.
We are wasting tax dollars and productive labor fighting the drug war. There is absolutely no reason marijuana should still be illegal.
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 the he UK recognises three classes of illegal drugs, A, B and C. A few years ago cannabis was downgraded from a class B drug to class C. That meant it was much lower on the Police's priority list.
The radio commercial thing is pure BS. All the talk in the UK recently has been about putting cannabis back into Class B because the the new varieties of (skunk etc) are supposedly so much stronger than when it was downgraded. This is likely to happen early in 2009.
Oh, and the Karl Marx quote is taken completely out of context. You might as well claim that the Bible verse saying rebellious teenagers should be stoned is advocating drug use.
One could look at how mindless entertainment and regulated media has allowed the United States to degenerate to the sorry state it now is, when it once was the jewel of the Enlightenment.
Or one could look at your own religion. Eternal life and eternal bliss? Without reason to actually do anything, why do anything at all? Without purpose, we would actually be as in an eternal drug high. That is your idea of paradise. I see it as no different from my vision of death - in either case, the consciousness disappears, even if in your case a body or shell or something endures.
I dont like to defend Marxism, however Marx didn't say exactly that, heres the full quote http://www.mlwerke.de/me/me01/me01_378.htm . Not that I think many will read and understand it. One other thing to remember is that opium was a medicine, it contains morphine. Say whatever you want about morphine, but it is a effective painkiller.
1. So you are saying Weed will be a pacifier drug? Dude, I would totally trade in alcohol for weed.
2. You are "anti peace"? What the hell!
3. You idiots seem to be the ones wanting one world religion (aka. your brand of crazy. Hell I had someone try and fix my dislocated arm with faith healing)
4. And Karl Marx was speaking about how people are actually suffering and how religion was speaking of "rewards" that they would get in the next life for tolerating their suffering. It was numbing their pain when they should have not been in pain at all. And "opiates" are legal. We call them vicodine and morphine.
5. The young care what Obama will do, and indeed want a fresh new face as opposed to the standard "old white guy approach" the US seems to have.
"She said in......England there are radio commercials talking about legalizing the stuff. "
Speaking as an Englishman resident in the UK, either she's a liar or you are.
No such radio commercials exist - or have ever existed - here.
I'd argue for legalization from an economic perspective, as well. Forget stoners, and medicinal use, what about industrial use? Hasn't cannabis been the world's biggest cash crop? Even George Washington had a hemp farm. Prior to being banned in the early 1900s it was a multi-billion dollar industry. Hell, at very least it will be another crop for us to pay farmers to not grow (even though its a good crop for the soil / farmers already grow it mixed in with their corn).
So if we legalize, we may get a boost to the economy (new jobs, products for purchase), while saving tax money (ever look at the DEA budget? About 1/2 their budget goes towards cannabis enforcement).
On the down side, local police will have to find something better to do, and will lose money from possession citations. Also, employers may have to worry about those horrible stoners and their reefer madness! And imagine, if ~64% of the population admits to trying cannabis, how many more will find their lives in a downward spiral of Cheeto's and bong hits? Oh the humanity.
Fundies. They just don't trust people to be able to make informed decisions about anything without some kind of external influence, as if we are all sheep. Hence the hysteria when something new comes along. The hysteria about pre-marital sex and masturbation. The hysteria about virginity and "purity". The hysteria about the possibility of America having its first black or female President. The hysteria about gay marriage. The continuing hysteria about abortion. Its all boils down to one thing: control. The fundies know they are losing it.

The fundies know they are losing it.
Not in the UK. Despite us generally being more secular the fundies are gaining a handhold. See how the Young Earth Creationist 'Emmanuel Schools Foundation' is taking over failing schools in the inner cities (with Government approval)? Or the growth in 'Faith' schools? The first state Muslim school was opened recently, with the assurance it'd be 'open to all'! Do you seriously think any secular Briton's going to send their kids to a school where memorizing the Koran is a priority? Or where your girl-child is a second class citizen?
This needs stamping on fast and hard. Secular education in all state schools is the way to go. As A Victorian MP (who's name I forget and I paraphrase anyway) said 'I have no problem with any facts being taught in state schools, what I object to is the teaching of guessing'.
Wow, you're a really screwed up person, aren't you? One with an over active imagination, but screwed up none the less.
So what about Genesis 1:29?
"And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."
"Yes, watch and wait. There was a woman there who has lived all over the world. She said in Guam and England there are radio commercials talking about legalizing the stuff."
What "stuff?" Prohibition doesn't work and you don't have the right to tell other people what they can ingest into their own bodies.
"It will be part of the big plan...you know the peace and safety plan...if everyone is whacked out on the drug of choice (legally) they reduce the number of citizens that are aware of the dire condition we're in."
Again, if you're referring to marijuana, I've never used it and have no desire to do so, but it's none of my (or YOUR) business if someone else wants to do so. Mind your own business, you imbecile.
"We'll have the one world religion and the drug of our choice..."
I thought that a world with only one religion was what you guys wanted...
I know where Obama came from; I know who he is.
I know that in one instance, he didn't place his hand over his heart while the National Anthem was sung (technically, that's only done while saying the Pledge of Allegiance, which was written by a company that produced U.S.A. flags); I know that he was raised in Hawaii, had a Muslim birth father, a Hindu step-father, and his mother is white. I know he doesn't wear a flag pin (because he wants to represent the American ideals himself, not by just wearing a flag).
I do not, know, however, what any of this has to do with drugs.
At the turn of the 20th century they used to treat alcoholics with morphine because a junkie is less likely to be violent or to commit crimes. LSD was being tested as an antidepressant with good results until the Nixon government banned it.
I think the only reason the fundies freak out so much about drugs and sex is that it gives people a release so that they don't need religion as much. What do you think drives a fundie into one of those speaking in tongues seizures? It's all the pent up sexual and life frustrations finally finding a release. Religion is their drug of choice, and it's extremely addictive.
BTW I don't do drugs, and I'm very allergic to pot and tobacco smoke.
You seem a tad confused. Radio commercials. "Stuff." Dire condition. One-world religion. Drug of choice. Obama. Look, when this starts to head some place, give me a call, OK?
"...how they will vote for Obama without even knowing who he is or where he came from."
I think some of these Fundies secretly believe that Obama was produced in a laboratory by the Illuminati from the genes of two gay men, like the Antichrist character Nicolae Carpathia from the Left Behind series. And you know what? If a church leader said that to them, they would believe it without a moment's qualm.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
