The important point for you to understand is that Hell is God’s turf, and He thinks it is FABULOUS. No one forced God to come up with the sadistic torments of Hell: they were all His idea. Today many Christians like to pretend that if Hell is real, it will only be a temporary torment. Well, no, this is not what God teaches us. Hell is ETERNAL. This bothers us intensely, but we will just have to suck it up because GOD defines reality, not us.

Unfortunately, this is how religions gain converts. Mental tyranny. It's how the Romans kept their empire in the form of the Roman Catholic church after those evil Germanic hordes took over the Forum. Unfortunately, modern evangelists just copy the Roman model. Sadistic streak? That would imply that most of the time he isn't sadistic. Bible God, especially according to Anna Diehl, is a sadist through and through with occasional lapses into appropriate behavior.

the whole point of the "hell" paradigm is "worst location/situation you can imagine", the polar counterpoint to "heaven", which is construed as "best kind of existence you can imagine". any imagined entity which would think hell was "fabulous" would have to be irreparably mentally twisted, by definition. so, naturally, ms. diehl would worship it...

Hell is a hotly debated topic in theological circles. Is it real? If so, how long does it last? What's it's nature? What's it's purpose? If the Bible were clear on anything, Christians wouldn't be debating a myriad of issues (many going back centuries) with different interpretations.
