[In the bible, Jesus taught us to love the sinner and hate the sin and to turn the other cheek etc. Tolerance.]
LOL- the Bible is not about tolerance.

"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." (Luke 6:32-37)
That pretty much says it all, doesn't it?
It all depends on how you want to deflate the contradiction.
___The Bible without Jesus is clearly intolerant.
___Jesus is clearly for tolerance.
It seems theretohere resolves this apparent contradiction by throwing away Jesus. You know, get rid of Christ because he won't let you hate people the way a "true Christian" should. Who's he to tell Christians want to do?
Since the Bible has plenty of examples of both tolerance and intolerance, depending on the passages one chooses, I'm not sure whether to credit this poster with honesty or ridicule him for ignorance. Either way, he's at least half wrong.
~David D.G.
He's certainly right about that.
However, he's full of dung if he thinks that being rabid, narrow-minded, holier-than-thou and intolerant is anything resembling a virtue.
There is another alternative bizarro universe, but a good turn deserves another. Maybe it´s true what you say but remember that the Bible IS NOT ONLY THE OT. In the New Testament, the message is unmistakable.
Well, shouldn't suprise me. I've actually known Christians who never read the bible...except, of course, the Leviticus-approved bits.
Amen to that. There's only a very small part of the book that deals with tolerance -- then Jesus gets nailed to a tree, and we go back to the crazy, genocidal shit.
Fundamentalism in a Nutshell nominee?
Hah! Then read these quotes for size...
"Love thy neighbor as you love yourself"
"Ye who has never sinned, cast the first stone"
I've got more, but I think I've made my point clear. theretohere = dipshit.
Confused?
