I believe that Tim Tebow has been targeted by upper level decision makers in the NFL to never be able to succeed. This guy was and is a real winner. Always has been. In college if he was against you then you had a long hard row to hoe to win against him. I remember being on the losing side a few times against him. Then in the NFL I do believe he was 9-1, I guess that is why they let him go!!?? Brought to the Jets and never even given a shot and let go. Then picked up by the Patriots, held until the very last moment, throws two touchdowns, and let go. I believe they will continue to keep him on the outside looking in because he professes his religion openly. If he were to shut his mouth he might stand a chance. The NFL is not going to allow a Christian hero...

The NFL would allow a one-armed Satanist hero if he were a good enough player.
The only criteria the NFL cares about is if the player is good enough to win games. They let Michael Vick and several convicted rapists back in, for criminy's sake.
Tebow just isn't good enough to stay on a team.
Maybe he peaked in college and went downhill from there?
I don't know American football, so I don't understand what 9-1 means.
Don't they buy and sell players in NFL too? You don't pay a lot of money for a guy that has professed his religion openly, if religiosity is a problem for you, stupid. Btw, aren't most Americans more or less Christian?
Is he that guy who bows down and prays in public, like a hypocrite? Yeah, that's him.
zman61, let's do the math here. There are 32 NFL teams, each of them have 2-3 quarterbacks. That means there are 96 QBs tops in the entire league. Those will be the 96 best QBs you will find. Tebow certainly has the talent to play football professionally, but his performance is flacky. Once he's everything you could wish for and sometimes he's playing against his own team. If you want to see a good QB take a look at Colin Kaepernick - who btw, has Bible verses tattood on his arm.
And from all the stuff I can find, Tebow never was 9-1 in the NFL, In 2010 he was 1-2, in 2011 he was 7-4 and in in 2012 with the Jets he was 1-1.
Personally I'm a fan of Tebow, through hard work and persistence he's made up for limited talent and has played in the NFL for a few years.
He is however NOT talented enough to be a starter nor is there a grand conspiracy against him. And a ton of Tebow merchandise got sold during his time in the pros and the NFL loves selling merchandise.
The reason he's not succeeding is because he's a shitty quarterback and refuses to consider playing in a different position.
You really think that if he were such a great quarterback that all NFL teams would pass him by? You really think that the NFL heads would shut out a quarterback with his own built-in fan base?
"The NFL is not going to allow a Christian hero..."
So you completely missed the Kurt Warner years, huh?
ScrappyB beat me to it, except I was going to say "A diaper-wearing autonepiophiliac who could hit his target on the run."
Meanwhile, while you climb up on the cross with Timmy, I'm looking at players crossing themselves whom I can't believe are Catholic!
I have nothing against Tebow being Christian, my problem was he couldn't throw. In every year he was ranked below 32nd in starting QBs, there are 32 NFL teams so that means even some second stringers were better than him.
Bullshit. Drew Brees is more annoyingly hyper Christian than Tebow. It even got to the point where one of his team mates took offense because he insists on giving all the credit for winning to God rather than the other 52 guys who sweat and bleed to win. In fact, though I have not done the math, I would bet that the overwhelming majority of players spout out some pablum about God when they are being congratulated on a good performance. The funny part is that you never see someone come out after a loss and say "I guess I didn't pray hard enough" or "I guess that Jesus just likes the other team better".
zeroguy666, you'll be amazed at how many really, good, accomplished pro-gridiron stars, past & present, have been full-blown "Bible Christians". I can name a few from my old home team from their 1990's glory days of 4 consecutive Superbowls (all lost, but still, consecutive ...plus the 'Greatest NFL Comeback' ever). They were as deeply religious as Teabow...except they were good at football & didn't kneel at every play. Mostly nice guys, too.
Face it, the NFL is loaded with "Born Again" football players. Teabow just STINKS!
Another "Born Again Bible Butt" from the above-mentioned 90's team could run & throw circles around Teabow with two cleated feet tied behind his back!

The Great Frank Reich of the 1990's Buffalo Bills. Was quarterbacking for that great comeback game and considered a faboo player in his own right...Amazingly, he was the second-stringer guy!
He was pretty handsome, too. My team had a few cuties.
Confessing the powerlessness of Bible God. Maybe if you prayed more ...? Actually, praying would probably be a waste of time, because Bible God is generally pretty powerless against sports in general.
Of course the question I would ask is WHY would the NFL do that and WHY would the teams cooperate?
Winning in the NFL is the only thing that matters. If any team thought Tebow could help them win, he would be playing.
Steve Young, one of the greatest quarterbacks ever, was a Mormon
Ray Lewis quotes scripture endlessly
Athletes thank god all the time
Tim Tebow just sucks, is all
Tebow didn't get a chance with the broncos because they got PAYTON FUCKING MANNING, one of the all time greats. Elway, the GM, prefers a pocket passer over a scrambler anyway and as I said, manning is great. Tebow went 1 and done in the playoffs, manning took them to literally one mile high miracle away from the Super Bowl
But I'm a ravens fan, what do I know?
I believe that Tim Tebow has been targeted by upper level decision makers in the NFL to never be able to succeed
So now we know what Tebow is always saying in his showcase prayers:

"My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"
I'd like to see a statistic about how many baseball players cross themselves before at-bats only to strike or fly out vs. players who don't cross themselves and get hits or homeruns.
Tim who?
Never heard of him. There is a whole world outside the narrow confines of an nation/state.
Actually, I did come across Tebow, but only here on this site. He is a noted pray-er in public situations, Whereas Jesus specifically enjoined that prayer should be done in private...

Comments like this love-fest for Tebow reveal another aspect of these fundie football fans. They understand the game and overall standing of the players at the same level they know their Bible: Not at all.
JUST because of his public displays of Jesus bothering they think he's the greatest footballer EVER. Never mind his stats, he openly prays to God. They're so wishing for a great Christian to be the best at something they'll proclaim one the best without any performance to back it.
he professes his religion openly.
Gee, maybe if I marry six wives and quote Joseph Smith all the time I can get that gig as point guard for the Utah Jazz. I can't play ball worth shit, but that doesn't seem to matter.
I don't have much to add that probably hasn't been said already, but I'll add my two cents anyway.
The problem with Tebow isn't his open faith. He can worship a tuna sandwich that hasn't spoiled in weeks for all the NFL cares.
What the NFL teams care about is his ability to be an NFL caliber Quarterback. This job requires Tim to be able to read and study offensive plays, make split decisions during plays, and most importantly, throw a football long distances. Unfortunately, time and time again, Tebow shows that he cannot perform these requirements at a level to stay in the NFL. He has a great hype and PR team, but he is like the many overly hyped prospects that fizzled out before him.
To make matters worse for Tebow, he refuses to consider changing positions in order to be gainfully employed by the NFL. He so set on being the Quarterback, he is shutting himself out of other possible opportunities to shine in the NFL.

"@Swede : Games won(9)-Games lost(1)-Games tied(0)
Works for every North American sport, except hockey were points are given."
Thanks for the explanation. Hockey is the only North American sport that I know anything about.
Still, games are won or lost as a team effort, at least in team sports.
Meanwhile in the real world very conservative, fundamental Christian Payton Manning is an NFL superstar, multi time Superbowl winner and hero. Why him and not Tebow? Maybe because Manning is actually a good player?
Confused?
