I could not disagree more. As David Henry Hwang pointed out to the BBC regarding hyphenated Asian identities, the change in the status of China as a rising power has changed the perspective of these identities, "resentment, anger, jealousy," by Whites towards these groups

Having a token Asian here and there, as in the kid actor in "The Goonies" is one thing, having over 40% of Vancouver being of Asian extraction or a very high percentage of Toronto is something entirely Other.

While the Canadian government is concerned over the invasion of Asian carp as an invasive species, it should be concerned over the invasion of Asian people, who represent an invasive alien species that is an existential, cultural and economic threat - by gifting them "New Stock" status I was being overtly generous, rather I would call them "Alien Stock" to be more precise as to how I perceive them. It's disingenuous to claim that race does not matter in regard to community and national identity.
