[Why "True Atheists" don't exist:]

Logically, my argument is that any alleged atheist that considers God possible, isn't truly an atheist. Considering possibility or not is the title of this thread is it not? Any alleged atheist that asks themselves whether or not God exists is being hypocritical. "The definition of a true atheist considering God is self-defeating. Before you can consider any gods' existence you have to have had granted the possibility that there was a god. If you grant the possibly of God and now deny it, that doesn't change the fact that you personally considered him a possibly."

Once a person gives something possibility to exist, it exists, that person gives whatever that something is meaning, definition, and recognition. The only possible way to be atheist, or as the person I originally responded to; "True atheist" is to not be introduced to the concept of God.

This is not logic. Please look up the meaning of the word.My asking myself if there was a god or not was vital to becoming an atheist. One cannot come to a reasonable and honest conclusion from only one side of the story. I remember someone being taken aback in high school. They asked if I’d ever thought of whether or not I was gay. Of course I’d thought of it. I assumed everyone had that moment where they figured out if they enjoyed certain things, foods, activities etc. I mean, one must decide before they go bungee jumping, whether or not they believe it is a good idea based on ones own knowledge of the subject. So yeah, it dawned on me what gay sex would be like and I didn’t find it interesting. I liked girls and that’s the way I’ve been. But to say that the thought has never crossed ones mind is bullshit. People think of a lot of stuff, that doesn’t mean they were actually considering or going to attempt them.So, by your own fucked up “logic”, you must’ve decided at some point that Islam, Judaism, FSM, Egyptian, etc, were NOT the right religion, but since you considered them you must be a polytheist. That doesn’t make sense, does it? When I was young I was scared of getting on my bicycle at first. I also believed in the Easter bunny. Now, since my views have changed, you must think they are the exact same.

Possible isn’t the same as existing.
Atheism means i do not believe in gods.
It is not defined as ‘i do not believe gods are possible.’

Not even slightly. I lack the belief, but I have not been convinced that gods could never exist. I am open to new information or observations, evidence.

Not necessarily. I can consider whether Batman or Spiderman would win in a fight against Cupid without thinking ANY Of them are actually real.

Or more to the point in my case, I admit the possibility but have yet to see any evidence of teh reality.

It’s not a gotcha, opinions can change.

You’re saying that people having BELIEVED in the Hindu gods means they exist?
And the Norse Gods? Greek? Roman?

Yep. used to play AD&D. IN THE GAME I worshiped Ki, goddesss of nature. IN THE GAME, i fought zombies, vampires, werejaguars, and Bugs Bunny (Weird campaign). They had rules, they had hit points, but they didn’t exist.
