When your market share is shrinking, and desperation is settling in, I guess no segment can be "overlooked" esp one which is expanding at an alarming rate - hey maybe they'll hire me if I market to terrorists!

"When your market share is shrinking, and desperation is settling in,"
Sounds like christianity.
Yeah, I'm sure Microsoft, owned by the guy who makes Bruce Wayne look like a pauper, is in financial trouble.
In what bizarro universe is Microsoft's market share shrinking?
I realize you'd love that because Bill Gates is liberal, atheist and successful, but really...this is just projection.
Might have nailed it Pip.
Gays probably outnumber Fundies now.
Sell Sell Sell.
Gays are probably better cashed up as well. Double incomes, fewer mouths to feed, orthodontal bills,
summer camp, school fees.
Go microsoft, build a nation
Although Microsoft isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future, it is true that they're not the same powerhouse that bordered on an illegal monopoly they were a decade ago.
But you make it sound like MS is the only gay friendly company out there. Just wait until the financial planning companies start advertising the same way. Anyone want to make bets how long it'll be before that starts happening?
I know it's strange concept to a fundie, but things you don't like , such as equal marriage rights, is hardly comparable to terrorism.
I certainly don't see Gays blowing up churches in the name of equality like some fundies blow up women's clinics.
Who's side is more likely to be terroristic, hhhmm?
"When your market share is shrinking, and desperation is settling in,"
Because microsoft is on the verge of bankruptcy.
Fishtank,
is going to the government and asking for a certificate freedom?
Ps. Fundies, ever since the Garden of Eden have always had a thing about Apples,
Microsoft were simply miffed.

Whuh? Wha? Huh? What's going on???? Did we win?
...fuck you, false alarm again.
Even after failing to get any traction with Windows Phone, and Windows 8 getting universally loathed, Microsoft is still in absolutely no realistic danger of losing their place as a market leader. They've survived far worse downturns than this!
...RevTesticle said, on a computer with a version of Windows installed on such, most probably.

...except - as far as the right-wing are concerned - for the one segment that resulted in Obama getting his 2nd term. Which can be summed up in one word: Demographics .
Ratzy the Nazi's previous bleating about 'Secularism' in Europe is proof of religion's market share shrinking, and their desperation settling in.
Holland. Very much a Protestant country (King William of Orange, and all that jazz). The lowest rates of teenage pregnancy in Europe, if not the world. So morally, they must be getting it right eh, Rev?

I hear Al-Qaeda are recruiting, Rev. Just leave your Christianity at the door, that's all. [/paradox]
Consensus Rating for MSFT is MODERATE BUY (1.98)
Since many brokers have different rating systems, we maintain a standard system with an assigned numeric value from 1 to 5. Ratings are a translation of brokers' recommendations to the recommendation scale, which ranges from a rating of 1 (a strong buy) to a rating of 5 (a strong sell). - Investorguide.com
That took me less than 2 minutes to look up and read.
On the other hand, I shorted ChristCorp. (Ticker Symbol PXU) years ago.
Microsoft has been pretty hit or miss lately and they're nowhere near as powerful as they were during the 90s. Still, they're doing a hell of a lot better than Chick-fil-a or Hobby Lobby. So where's your god now? Also, why WOULDN'T a company open its doors to a wider audience? That's not desperation, that's common sense. A five year old could tell you that catering to more clients brings in more money. I mean, the kid that sells lemonade to everyone will make more money than the kid that won't sell lemonade to the fat kids.
So what have you got against the free market RevTesament? Are you suggesting that certain markets should be off limits? Do you dispute that Jesus championed capitalism? Are you some kind of commie-liberal-hippie-pinko-Satalanist-socialist?
Yeah, you probably even love Obama!
With issues as controversial as marriage equality, companies must consider what they will gain and what they will lose.
I guess they thought that the equality group is much larger and more prone to buy their products, than the bigoted group is.
Terrorism is the threat or use of violence to sway a people or nation
Homosexual: Give us equal rights!
And they are voted on
Many Christian groups like the Army of God bomb gay clubs and bars. Many Christians in general try to use fear to show how bad things will get.
Looks to me like the terrorists are the homophobic Christians.
I guess no segment can be "overlooked"
You mean young people? About 70% currently support same-sex marriage - and the percentage is probably higher among the tech-savvy young who are today's and tomorrow's MS customers.
Since 2000 (and ignoring the period of 2008 to 2010 ) Microsoft's share value has been constant. Also only 7% of people use OS X and 1% Linux, so pretty good there. All in all your idea of "market share is shrinking, and desperation is settling in" is demonstrably fallacious. Lastly, gay and terrorist are a false equivalence but that's obvious.
Hmm, yes, these lowlife Christian fundamentalists.
Good heavens, can't something be done?
Ridicule will teach them of our superiority.

You fail haiku.
Microsoft is a corporation. The purpose of a corporation is to make money. Therefore, Microsoft is going to pursue strategies that (they feel) will maximize the accumulation of money.
JCPenney* was threatened by the "One Million Moms"** group for (IIRC) a Mother's Day commercial ad that included a two-mom family; they responded by a two-dad family in a subsequent ad.
Penney is not exactly making tons of money these days, so they obviously have determined that being gay-friendly is good for business, as have nearly all companies.
* "JC"?! Is that blasphemy of Jesus Christ?
** More like less than a dozen moms who get the vapors at the thought of people doing what makes them happy.

A large company is trying to increase it's market share by reaching out to a new (to them) demographic. What's the problem?
If they were reaching out to some other group that you didn't hate--I don't know, kittens, or something--you'd be trumpeting the virtues of the free market. Because they're reaching out to gays, they're suddenly comparable with rogue states? Are you kidding?
Yeah, desperation is settling in, but not in the way that you think...
yeah, Gaytopia = happy.
From Lake Wobegon we heard that, all the women are strong all the men are handsome and all the Children are above average.
And Microsoft sells well there.
Fundies, may I recommend to you Linux? Not only is it guaranteed to raise your hackles, it is also guaranteed to induce projectile trolling. Linux, perfect for those who need more things to persecute in their shallow, empty lives.
Isn't Apple pro-gay as well? So that leaves Linux... oh, but that's open-source, and that's too much like communism.
I guess it's time for the fundies to get off the internet, then!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
